    Pure Sodium Percarbonate $3/kg

Guys - Advance chemicals in Altona has sodium percarbonate for $3/kg inc GST. I bought a 25 kg bag but they will sell it in 10 kg pails also (you have to pay $5 or something for the pail). They also have phosphoric acid and LABS acid. You should probably call them before you fire up the...

    Beer Drinkers Revolting

I had to laugh at this CNN article: What, no keg? Beer gets a makeover. I have no idea who the author is but their sarcasm in the intro is spot on.

    Sparkling Ale

There have been various discussions here and elsewhere discussing the pros and cons of the BJCP guidelines in comps. Without regurgitating the arguments here, one stand out issue that creates resistance is the "missing aussie styles". To avoid arguments over what exactly constitutes the...

Anyone brewing a commemorative brew today? I have just been bottling a Belgian Tripel (11.5%). Due to some 'spillage' I don't think I will be doing much at all today.

    Mash Efficiency Study (fly)

This is not a competition it is a study conducted by the university of melbourne brewers. See sister batch poll in a separate thread. You can vote in both if you do both. Please try to resist the urge to vote if you haven't mashed enough times to have settled onto a consistent brewhouse...

    Mash Efficiency Study (batch)

This is not a competition it is a study conducted by the university of melbourne brewers. See also sister fly poll. It has been split because there is a limitation on the number of questions in a single poll. Please try to resist the urge to vote if you haven't mashed enough times to have...

Busted Fridge, Now Fixed (cold Beer Again)

My serving fridge busted earlier in the week. I have been looking around at chest freezers (how 'bout one that would hold a dozen kegs for $500). When I cleaned out the dead fridge, I thought before I chuck it I should at least find out how dead it was. I hot wired the thermostat and voila...

    Sosman's Mill Cracks 100

Well my mill has cracked 100 kg of grain and it is working just as good as ever with no real signs of wear. Some people thought that maybe jarrah wouldn't cut it but it actually is standing up very well. I haven't progressed plans to motorise it since I can hand grind a 5kg grain bill in about...
