Guys - Advance chemicals in Altona has sodium percarbonate for $3/kg inc GST. I bought a 25 kg bag but they will sell it in 10 kg pails also (you have to pay $5 or something for the pail).
They also have phosphoric acid and LABS acid.
You should probably call them before you fire up the...
I was asked by the Vicbrew committee to announce that the date for the Australian Amateur Brewing Championships for 2006 will be Saturday, November 11.
It will be held in Melbourne at a venue to be announced at a later date.
After a bet on Australia day, I did some digging into the history of Pride of Ringwood and came up with info that may be of interest to others:

There have been various discussions here and elsewhere discussing the pros and cons of the BJCP guidelines in comps. Without regurgitating the arguments here, one stand out issue that creates resistance is the "missing aussie styles".

Anyone brewing a commemorative brew today?
I have just been bottling a Belgian Tripel (11.5%). Due to some 'spillage' I don't think I will be doing much at all today.

Any hot tips for where to pick one up around Melbourne, particularly eastern suburbs?
cheers
After lots of talk, I have finally got a bit of a yeast farm coming together (see http://brewiki.org/Yeast/Culturing#farm)
I have also made a beer (APA #6) with the CL-50 and it finished at 1.010 and is tasting very fine indeed.
Well my mill has cracked 100 kg of grain and it is working just as good as ever with no real signs of wear.
Some people thought that maybe jarrah wouldn't cut it but it actually is standing up very well. I haven't progressed plans to motorise it since I can hand grind a 5kg grain bill in about...
