Beer-mergency! STC-1000 failed just after pitching (where to find replacement in Adelaide?)

I don't know a "reputable source", but I do know the quality does vary between suppliers. I replaced one recently that got quite hot (and on power out also wiped the compression timeout to some hours long value). I just have a stash of a few replacement STC's in event of failure. At $10 - $15...

Converting from gas to electric kettle

For a boil kettle mostly what you want is on or off. BUT - it's also very handy to get it to bring to 95°C or so and hold it there while filling from mash tun. 60L @ 3kw would definitely need good insulation for a boil!

Converting from gas to electric kettle

Have a look through the electric brewery guides, heating element here: Heating Elements I followed the whole guide pretty closely when doing my electric brewery setup. The 5500w element is just ok for 70L boils, but I find my voltage is usually around the 225 - 230V mark, meaning the actual...

I have some Wyeast 1469 (West Yorkshire) that has just shrugged off a two and half year sleep like it was a nana nap. Only 36hrs after taking it out of the freezer, and it's already ready to be spun up to pitching volume. First 250ml starter was well and truly done in 24hrs, this is the 1L...

    Milling Grain

Looks like a perfectly good crush to me! All broken up, but plenty of big bits. Great if you're a 3v setup. For a 1v maybe it's too crunchy? For measurements, I would go by your feeler gauges - same distance apart on both sides. End of the day though - did you get your numbers on your brew? If...
