Howdy All, Was awesome to be invited to judge at Vicbrew 2013.....had an fun day judging Dark lagers and Porters on the Sunday. Now - I'm not sure if entrants receive the forms that the judges fill out back but if you do, and my name is on the top of the form, and you read it and would like...

For Sale (Melbourne) - Complete 50L 2 Tier All Grain Brew System

You mean what I spent on it or what I want for it? I've spent about $3-$3.5K over the years (some bits have been replaced with newer, better bits over the years). I'm thinking about $1250ono to sell as a complete package and whomever buys it as a whole I'll even throw in some time to teach the...

For Sale (Melbourne) - Complete 50L 2 Tier All Grain Brew System

Howdy Brewers, It's with great trepidation that I need to sell my entire brewing rig. No, I'm not giving up brewing - it's still my job - rather, I've moved to Melbourne and my little apartment doesn't have a garage in which I can brew....so I'm going to change to a Braumeister. This is the...

Lallemand Cbc-1 "yeast For Cask And Bottle Conditioning"

I've been trying to get my hands on this yeast but from my experience, none has been imported into Australia yet through the two Lallemand distributors. If you're looking to brighten up a US05 fermentation then this yeast won't help you. You'll need to use something like Brewbrite or gelatine...

Mashmaster Mini Mill With A Drill

I used to have the bigger version - could not get it to work without spending $ on a motor/pulley system. Glad I just bought the mini. Cheers! Hendo

Mashmaster Mini Mill With A Drill

Hi All, I used to have the big mashmaster mill back in the day and it needed a motor and pulley system to run it. I'm in the market for a new mill, can the Mashmaster mini mill be run with a drill? If not, got any alternatives? Just want to keep things nice and simple. Cheers! Hendo

    Best Kolsch Malt

In my experience - very, very pale. very very bland. Needs some Munich or something else to bring out some flavour but on its own it's quite bland. I hope that helps! Hendo

    Topaz And Stella Hops

Yeah Topaz is a nice hop but it's very high alpha acid and in cohumulone (65%) so it doesn't take much to get harsh bitterness. I used it in Prickly Moses Session Ale (kind of an amber sorta thing) as bittering, late and dry hop. As jimi said, loved the lychee but the harsh bitterness came...

How To Open A Sack Of Grain

Indeed I love opening the Weyermann bags...they're so easy!....official instructions from the source here (on the right hand side): http://www.weyermann.de/eng/produkte_neu.a...7&sprache=2 Fawcett's bags are a little different as they seem to be a single string stitch. Barrett Burston bags =...

    Victorian Microbreweries

If you're heading down the Great Ocean Road be sure to come in and say hi to me at Otway Estate where I'll be brewing Prickly Moses beer. Just ask for me at the cellar door and if it's a weekday and I'll do my best to give you a personal guided tour. I think that Red Duck are a fair way down...

1056 Temp Rise For 24 Hours?

Agreed - and IMHO both at home and at the big brew house, 1056 is a very temperature tolerant strain. Given the temp range you've specified, I don't think there's anything to worry about here :-) Cheers! Hendo
