    BIAB Element Issues

Yes I do have a fair bit of flour in the mash. I mill it pretty fine so maybe I need to change the setting. Might use no wheat next time and see if that changes things.. Thats a good idea about the scourer... might give that a whirl. Thanks mate

    BIAB Element Issues

Hi All Yesterday I had a crack at brewing my first IPA. However, halfway through the boil I started to smell a strange burning smell and I couldn't work out what it was or where it was coming from. So I just carried on as normal. After flameout I transferred to cubes and near the end of the...

Craft Beer On The Sunshine Coast Qld

I give Ten Toes two thumbs up. I really enjoy his beers, there is a wood fire pizza van there on Fri arvos if you're keen for a feed. Rupert is also a top bloke for beer chat when it's not busy. Pretty sure 'Taps' at Mooloolaba has his pale ale there

    Frozen wort

OK... so I will definantly take extra care and make sure this avoidable issue does not happen again. Regarding the frozen beer.... the gravity has dropped from 1044 to 1034 in 3 days since thawing out. However, I do not have a krausen like normal do when using US05. I have tiny bubble activity...

    Frozen wort

Yes, in hindsight I should of taped my probe to the side of my fridge. It is normally weaved in-between the fridge shelves and left to dangle between the 2 FV in the fermentation chamber. However, mistakes and shit happen My unanswered questions remains, has this happened to anyone before? Or...

    Frozen wort

Yesterday afternoon I pitched us05 into my FV. Then I got up to check in the morning, only to find that the temp probe on my controller has fallen outside of the freezer door. I pitched the yeast at 4pm yesterday afternoon, and when I checked it after the footy the probe must have fallen out...

    lag time

Hey Kev, I'm no expert..but if you have fermentation at a controlled temp, its happy days. However, I could be wrong. If it was me I would not be concerned. Cheers :kooi:

    Have I killed my yeast?

Its all good gents... I have positive activity now. I believe that I just panicked this morning when the wort looked dead. The yeast last night did look strange though, not like Ive seen before. Oh well... Once again thanks for the replies. :kooi:
