Are you 100% certain the hose is inserted all the way? I helped a new brewer with something similar to this just the other day, their hose wasn't fully pushed through the o-ring in the fitting. There will be two points of resistance, one where it passes the locking teeth, then again when it hits...
Does anyone know of a reliable Bobcat guy in Melbourne? South-east suburbs preferred.
I'm getting a bit over dudes not getting back to me or failing to turn up for quotes
I'm looking at using bolts for legs as mentioned above, but I can't find anywhere in Melbourne that sells perforated sheet at a reasonable price so I imagine regional areas would be even worse. Whereabouts are you located?
If someone made up a unit to fit the common urns I'm sure they'd sell well.
People warned me not to use the dry beer enzyme when I was trying to make Asahi once. Foolishly I ignored them and gave it a go. Consider yourself warned :icon_vomit:
FYI - The "Clone Brews" book has recipes for Asahi and Kirin in it, I've made the Kirin a few times and prefer it to the original.
Just saw on Twitter that the sale has just started, you ripper :)
Christmas Sale Starting now! 20% off everything <$250, 10% off everything >$250, 10% off beer, 10% off Braumeisters.

Does anyone know if Grain and Grape are having one of their sales soon? I remember they seem to have them about this time of year but haven't heard a peep yet.
I'd also like to know if the 11 litres/min version is a better choice than the standard 6 or even 8. Because the price is hardly any extra I'm wondering if there's some catch to it.
What were the benefits you found of using the pump? Did it increase your efficiency at all? And did it help to evenly distribute your mash temp, especially when applying extra heat?
I'm still interested to see pics of inside the exposed element latest Crown and Birko urns.
If someone could please upload a photo of each that would really help with my purchase decision.
Thanks.
I had my sights set on a Crown concealed element urn until I read this about the problems with them burning out after modification.
But, do the exposed Crowns and Birkos also need to have this mod done to maintain a rolling boil?
Sorry to revive an old thread, but this was the most appropriate place I could find.
Does anyone have a photo of the element inside the newer model Birko? I see there is a pic of a spirally element earlier in this thread, which I think is the old version. Does the new version still have dangly...
What a terrible experience, and something for us with dogs to be really careful of.
Spent hops would be attractive being that they would have picked up the sweet, malty flavour from the boil.
Thanks for the info.
15L, wow that's heaps below the sight glass that you can't measure then. I didn't realise it would be that much.
So in order to measure out the mash in water for a single batch it seems like you'd need to heat up about 30 litres.
