    HERMs Question

Hi Razz, Thanks for the reply, your idea will of course work but my concern is by the time my sparge water heats up, with a 2000W element, by the time it gets to my sparge temp, my 60 minute mash would be complete, i doubt any SS pot, even insulated would keep it with 1 degree over 60 minutes...

    HERMs Question

Hi All, I am sure that this question has been answered but i could truly find a response. I am looking at buying a 3 vessel HERMs system which includes: 1 x 50L HLT with 7.8 metre SS coil 1 x 70L MLT 1 x 70L Kettle I am really concerned about heating times for the HLT and MLT strike water. The...

    Temp Controller in Keezer

Hi all, I am in the process of finishing of my Keezer, i have mounted the temp controller in the front collar, my concern is that all the wiring is internal and exposed to the low temp and moisture, will this moisture short out my temp controller?

    Keg King Magnetic centrifugal pump

Due to so much deadspace at the bottom of my converted keg, i built a 90 degree copper dip tube, i am wondering if that is creating the restriction of flow.

    Keg King Magnetic centrifugal pump

Your probably correct S.E but why is it doing it? Its strange, although the ball valve is fully open no wort runs out, when i remove the tube from the ball valve, for half a second there is no flow and then it starts to run... This is a physics problem and im no scientist.

    Keg King Magnetic centrifugal pump

Gday Bouncingcastle but im positive i have the correct flow. With these pumps the inlet comes in from front centre and the outlet is from the top. I have it housed the way KegKing recommend.

    Keg King Magnetic centrifugal pump

Hi all, I have a magnetic drive pump from keg king and im having a hell of a time to get it running efficiently. I can never seem to prime it ( get rid of air ) at all. It just spins in static motion, no output at all. Also the tube running from the keg to the pump inlet valve seems to stop...

    Strike water volume

Have a look at this guys, he explains the calculations for Strike and sparge water based on losses and volumes. I found it a very good video to watch. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h8mEJ_WTJ2o

    Strike water volume

Thank you Goid, thats what i was going to do next batch, my last batch, (which was my first AG batch ) i added losses, came out fine but didnt want to think i was diluting the grain with to much liquid. The only disadvantage im thinking with not adding losses is the possibility of a stuck...

    Strike water volume

Hi guys, Another question from an AG novice. I have a question regarding strike water volume. If i am using 5KG of grain with a grain absorption ratio of 1 litre per kilo and also MT dead space of 2 litres, do i add these losses to my strike water volume or just use the total water of my mash...

Ok guys, one last request for you beer geniuses to run your eyes over. Can you please check this formula im using. I am working backwards to the pre boil volume then working forward, i hope you get it, im also work on a 3L/Kg ratio. Here we go Final batch size 20L Fermenter loss 1L...

Please Explain.. 50% loss to evaporation

Hi Guys, well i done a test run with water today, put in exactly 26 litres, boil for an hour on low heat (maintaining boil ) and drew out near on exactly 20 litres with 1 litre remaining in keg ( i normally draw out more from the keg as i use a pump but the test was done just by pouring out...

Please Explain.. 50% loss to evaporation

Sorry Contrarian, i meant to say 300 Millilitres not 300 millimeters.. I will take on board the litres per hour boil off, i think that is a better estimate overall. Also , and this may have been a big no no, seeing i only produced 13 litres, i did add water to the beer, should i have done that...
