FS - new Hanna 98128 pH meter

Long story, but I have a new Hanna 98128 surplus to requirements - $150 (including some sachets of calibration solution) I've been using my original 98128 for a couple of years, but recently couldn't successfully calibrate it. It rejected the 7 solution. I changed the electrode over with an old...

Kettle design WRT chilling & whirlpooling

After a few years of no-chilling, I've been pondering why my dark beers turn out better than pale ones.I think I have the answer - the dark ones are usually malt-driven, where as the pales I have been trying to brew are lacking the desired hop flavours and aromas. Without employing the Argon...

    Mangrove Jacks M-36 attenuation question

I used M-36 in a 22.5 litre batch with a 5kg grain bill. OG was 1.047, and FG after 14 days is steady on 1.011, yet Beersmith thinks the FG should be 1.007. The attenuation figure I've seen for M-36 is 76%, so 1.011 looks about on the money, so I'm curious why Beersmith has apparently...

    Give away PET bottles

I have 40 PET bottles, some new (quite a few Coopers ones among them), but all clean, to give away. No caps. I'm brewing a new batch today for the Stanthorpe swap, and buying new PETs to put it in. I use glass crown-seal tallies for myself, so these are surplus to my requirements. You're...

    A surprise beer at 30,000ft

I was just reviewing my holiday photos, and came across these I took on a Scandanavian flight earlier this month. What a pleasant surprise! A cracker of a beer, and my hats off to the airline for this initiative. Qantas, Virgin, et al - how about something similar? (Not holding my breath...

    PET bottle bombs

Well I didn't think they did - explode, that is - but obviously they do! My No. 1 swap beer for the 2016 Qld Christmas Swap next week was bottled first week in October. When I left for holidays mid November, all was well. Got back home two days ago, and found the casings of two bottle bombs in...

    Greek "off the shelf" beers

Lots of miles gone, from Ireland, England & Finland, but now in Greece, and with recommendations from my newest Greek best friend ggaif (George), I tried a Septum Honey Golden Ale tonight with a magnificent souvlaki at "Hops Beer & Burgers" (just up from Sygrou-Fix metro station) in Athens...

    English "off the shelf" beers

Continuing my European trip, I'm really enjoying the array of brews available off the shelf at Tesco, for one and a half pounds (around $2.30 for 500ml ). Check these out, especially that many of them list the hops they use.

    Comprehensive description of beer styles

I've just been doing some research into beer in the Scandanavian countries, particularly Finland where I'll spend a week later this month. The state-run monopoly for sales of anything over 4.7% is Alko (how appropriate), and their website has an excellent section of beer styles. Worth a browse...

    UK Supermarket beers recommendations?

I'll be spending a week in England & Ireland next month, and while I would love to prop up as many bars as possible, if the overnight accom is not within walking distance, I could well be tempted to try some packaged 'over-the-counter' brews from Tescos for example...
