    Ultratap versus Intertap

Is it just me or has Wide Eyed & Legless turned into a major flog? As you were

    Should I get into kegging?

Yes. You should also store your beer in the fridge if you want it to taste as good as possible

    WLP002 yeast

WLP002 is one of my favourite yeasts. You need to handle it well & you’ll get great results. It can finish off an English Bitter in 4-6days. Ignore the advertised attenuation ranges of 63-72%. I consistently get 78% with 002. Steps I take: - make an appropriate starter - oxygenate wort with...

gluten free recipe and general advice

Oh, I agree. Certainty isn’t required for knowledge though. All knowledge is provisional & updates as new evidence comes to light. I should have said “based on all of the currently available evidence, it appears that gluten sensitivity doesn’t exist”. That doesn’t help people in their...

gluten free recipe and general advice

I would also add - gluten sensitivity is a myth. Either one is a celiac or not. I’m glad I am not, I can’t imagine life without proper beer

gluten free recipe and general advice

Look into a product called Clarity Ferm by White Labs. It’s is for chill haze & gluten reduction in beers made from barley & wheat. They claim it reduces gluten to below 20PPM which is the international threshold to label products gluten free.

Is this too good to be true? 10% discount CODE? Possibly good for Kegerator Purchase

Ebay run this promotion very frequently. The retailers love it as they get the full price & Ebay passes the discount. I recently picked up a Weber Family Q delivered for $612.50. You rarely see them discounted off RRP at all. Usually have to pay 720-750

    WTB: BIAB setup

Depends what you typically like to brew. 36L total volume makes it very tough to brew beers much higher than 6% if you are doing pure BIAB (no sparge). There are ways around that of course but you compromise on simplicity. If you are happy sparging then this would be a great unit. I BIAB in...

    Whats In The Glass (commercial)

This first few of many I will be having next few days in Prague. What a magical city & an endless choice of fantastic beer establishments. *Can someone please tell the missus & daughter that daddy might be a few months late returning home

Pick Up Brisbane, The Gap - flip top bottles

Hi guys There are around 30 flip top bottles. Some have bayonets but you will need to grab some + red seals (cost next to nothing at LHBS) 3 crates included. Most of these have only had about 2-3 batches through them before I switched to kegging. They are a simple method to bottling & as...

    Mash out

And your solution? Happy to skip mashout if I can somehow lower viscosity enough to get the same results from just sparging

    Mash out

If I skip mash out & just hoist the bag then sparge with 76-78C water, I get 5 points less. So yeah, I guess letting the entire grain bill sit in 76 water for 10 mins vs just sparging with 76 water get me the extra 5 points. The mashout lowers the viscosity which allows me to get 5 more points

    Mash out

I do BIAB in a 40L urn. I usually do a mashout & I also sparge with About 10 litres which enables me to brew much bigger beers than full volume. I find a mashout tends to give me an extra 5 points on OG. If I can’t be bothered I just up the base Malt slightly. With bigger beers I mashout to...

    Kegerators

Thanks mate. I lost a full bottle due to this one shitting itself. I almost always have an English Ale on one of my 3 taps, so that variable pressure is value to me. Micromatic it is! Now, where to buy...

    Kegerators

They’re only cheap, I need one in a hurry. Might buy another brand. Any suggestions? I hear Micromatic are top notch?

Nah mate bought it direct from KK.

    Kegerators

Ok, don’t like my chances of getting my under warranty regulator replaced then. They weren’t even picking up the phone today. So, is a Micromatic the go for a decent reg?
