    Blackberry

Inspired by James Spenser, I made a small batch beer with the intentions of using blackberries for souring. I won't get specific on the recipe as it needs a lot of reworking but just thought I would plant a seed for someone looking to try something different. Basically, I used some mosaic hops...

    Cooler

Does anyone remember the old cooler Swan Breweries made. CS cooler? It was a hop based cooler rather than wine based. Never been able to get any leads on it's make up.

    Urns

I run a 50 litre electric urn that I picked up cheap. I have added a small hot water circulating pump and use this to do BIAB. I have a temperature controller so I just dial in the temp I want to mash at and it holds it there. Cheap to do. It has two 2kw elements. When I boil, I have one going...

    PE bottles

Has anyone had experience with the Big W PET beer bottles? Are they as good as Coopers? I got sucked into buying a box of Copper Tun ones once and they are junk compared to Coopers. I am having trouble buying Coopers locally but like them because they are NYLON coated.

Actually, I am yet to have a beer. Still stuck in the office. I was just trying to liven up an otherwise very quiet AHB. Maybe get a few discussions started. Seems I failed. My apologies.

One thing I have noticed in my short time in AHB is how varied the real background of home brewers is. We all brew beer ( or mead or GB) but the total knowledge behind this site is mind boggling. If only we could put this knowledge to good rather than evil. Just imagine if home brewers ran for...

    Is brewing an addiction?

Well, another batch of grain and related supplies arrived today. Summer solstice celebrations all over again. Anyway, had a fermenter sitting there waiting to be bottled so did that today to get things all cleaned up and ready to go tomorrow. As I own my own electrical contracting business, I am...

    plastic

It should be noted that not all HDPE is food grade. Unless it states it is food grade, it should be assumed it is not. I discovered this fact while looking into some Australian made jerry cans. The clear 10 litre ones from bunnings are so light duty the cap and the tap threads have trouble sealing.
