Where did you get your control panel box from?

Martin, Not sure about the other guys, but I have the bigger version of the first aid box http://www.bunnings.com.au/sandleford-310-x-450-x-150mm-first-aid-box_p6101363. 150mm deep so no worries fitting PID's etc in. The 100mm might be pushing it / require very good space management. Cheers

    Options for bottling approx 40L

To clarify a little I bottle in a range of sizes, 330, 375, 500, 568, 750 mL's - any good bottles I can get my hands on! So bulk priming is usually my best option. That said I might try bottle priming next time, I think grape and grain has a 3 size sugar measure, middle size for 500mL bottles I...

    Options for bottling approx 40L

All answers make sense, was just seeing if there was an answer like use a "something" bucket from "somewhere" they hold about 40 litres and they're $2! Haha Tavas what do you use to measure your sugar, one of those little homebrew sugar measurement scoops? Like below?

    Options for bottling approx 40L

Hey guys, I've been putting out around 38L batches on my new 3V and for the moment been splitting the wort into a 30L fermenter and a 10L cube. Same for bottling, been racking the 30L into a 30L bucket for bottling and same again from 10L into another 10L cube. Not too bad, gives me a chance...

Browndog, did it in photoshop - drew the arrows and stuff with the shape tools and then got the keg image/graphic from google images I think. Not too much to it, could be done in any image editing or drawing program. Choice of a cool looking font is probably most important thing!

    Chugger pump issues.

That's the question I kept asking myself, thinking it must be something in my system putting strain on the pump etc, couldn't possibly be this $200 piece of kit - it's disappointing to see this happening to others around the traps. If they don't figure out what is going on here they might have a...

    Chugger pump issues.

I have now brewed with mine twice with no problems, BUT, I installed a couple of fans around mine after I received the replacement so it will be running pretty cool compared to others. Part paranoia, part necessity I guess. Typical brewday - approx 1.5 hours mashing, 5-10 mins boiling wort and...

    Hop Dealz Australia

Received my hops yesterday from Yob, same day my ebay vacuum sealer arrived! I bet you can guess what I spent yesterday arvo playing with :super: Might have got carried away considering how much I'm able to brew at the moment but so much choice with the hops that it's crazy not to chuck them...

    60 year old stout anyone!?

From just googling the bottle and seeing what has come up, someone said (a year ago) that this is only worth around 80 bucks ish, but would sell for probably half of that. No real source but the consensus is that these are not so rare. I get the feeling that my grandparents and a lot of other...

    60 year old stout anyone!?

Yeah not sure kevo, that does seem a bit odd. Might have to do some digging around the net about it - send Guinness an email and see what they can tell me about it perhaps. I like the idea of keeping it around, maybe having it up on a shelf in a home bar one day!

    60 year old stout anyone!?

Just having a look through a bunch of old stuff that was my grandparents which my mum hung on to. Found this bad boy! My grandparents became publicans after WWII and they kept a few things from their time around pubs in Australia - not much left of it now except this and a few other bits and...

    4V electric herms build

Overlay was designed in Photoshop (but whatever design software you want), just started with an actual size A3 blank canvas and just started adding elements and graphics to it. Drew the arrows and all coloured lines etc and found the keg outlines on Google images. Then for the button and PID...

    4V electric herms build

Thanks Truman! I feel like this hobby has turned me into more of a gadget man. That flow control valve sounds very cool, first time I've heard of something like that. I figured that at least having some kind of re-assurance that my HEX wouldn't boil unattended was important, as well as being...

PS. Camo, don't know why you'd be kicking your rig - just checked out your gallery, that rig is niceeee...very schmick build! I'm going to get a taller, skinnier HEX built permanently onto the stand like yours at some stage. Cheers Fishy

    4V electric herms build

Haha I'm hoping the beer turns out well also! Nev it is all a bit much but I decided as I was taking my time, extending the time i had to save up, then why not have a PID for each vessel. That way I can set alarms for temperatures and have a good idea of what my vessels are doing. Also means I...

Nice one skelly! I got to the point where I was making no progress due to the smallest things on my rig - I almost gave up and I started looking at a bunch of the BIAB setups and wondering whether I should have put my energy into a single vessel build! I'm still considering building one down the...

Hi all, Just made a thread in the DIY section here http://aussiehomebrewer.com/topic/74654-4v-electric-herms-build/ but thought I'd chuck a couple of photos in here too! Here's my 99% finished rig, brewed for the first time on the weekend on it. Cheers Fishy

    4V electric herms build

Cheers mxd and OzPaleAle It was looking mighty suss after I had drilled the holes and taken the overlay off! Planned on getting a sign shop to do a nice vinyl adhesive printout of it but they were going to charge me $90 (its only A3) so I just got it printed out and laminated at officeworks...

    4V electric herms build

Couple of shots of brew day, nothing much there really. First batch was Dr Smurto's Golden Ale which I'd never brewed until now! Smelling so good in the fermenters!! Only things I haven't really mentioned are the plate chiller, which is this one http://brewhardware.com/plate-chiller . I wasn't...
