Alchema kitchen "Craft cider" maker - what do you think folk

Yup! Been there, done it, had the straining bag drop into the reservoir of clear juice! After much trail and error, we eventaully ended up with a 2 ft x 2 ft fine straining bag sitting loosely in a two gallon plastic bucket that had 30+ small holes drilled in its base, this then sat in a 25...

Just back from a few days away on the Isle of Wight, England. It's like going through a time warp to a bygone era. Do you have an Australian equivalent? Back to the thread. Well done Gareth on your 40 litres of juice. Did you use a fine mesh straining bag? For us this gives a clear juice with...

My Brevillles, with one exception, were bought on ebay for a fraction of their original cost. We have used them now for five seasons worth of apples generating with straining about 200 gallons of fresh clear apple juice. We have found that the higher the power rating the faster you can process...

I agree with your assessment. We obtain our fresh apple juice by using a Breville juicer and a straining bag assembly, see: http://youtu.be/Qvc0cCh5r0c.Last year two of us generated 15 gallons of clear juice in my kitchen in one day with little by way of effort.

UK apple juicing contest - "The Battle of Brogdale"

I find myself regarded as somewhat of a heretic when it comes to promoting juicer-use for cider-making here in the UK. It is very refreshing indeed to meet others who have had a positive juicer experience, and who speak favourably, of this approach. My fellow heretics of Scillonian Road will be...

UK apple juicing contest - "The Battle of Brogdale"

Airgead - I'm interested to learn more about Australians' use-of-juicers culture in cider making. How prevalent is it? Which machines are favoured? Have you come across any published articles which look at the pros and cons vs other methods? You observe correctly that here in the UK pulp and...

UK apple juicing contest - "The Battle of Brogdale"

Ah, my address is misleading you - I'm Scottish! No worries. I've lived more of my life in Guildford than I have in Scotland - let's face it, the weather's better. I'm fully retired and juice and strain is my hobby. it has been/continues to be great fun taking the method to the world. The...

Synchronous versus stepwise is a novel aspect of the method.

UK apple juicing contest - "The Battle of Brogdale"

Brogdale Cider Festival, 23rd and 24th August 2014, is hosting a demonstration of the traditional pulp and press, and novel juice and strain methods of obtaining fresh apple juice . This will take the form of a contest between these two alternative methods in a “fair test” trial. It promises to...

This is not stepwise juice and then strain. This is synchronous juice and strain. See: http://youtu.be/Qvc0cCh5r0c. There is no inventive step. Juice and strain is therefore not patentable. I haven't watched TopGear in years, I've been too busy making cider.

Juice and strain features on American Homebrewers website

Four minutes was for a JE15 model, the JE4 was faster and took only one and a half minutes to fill the pulp container. Juice yields were much the same at 65% by weight of apple. If you have a small garden batch, you could look to produce a gallon of fresh juice in about five minutes, this...
