    Building fermentation fridges

Some good advice Kev – just a few quick ones (as I've never had a controlled environment myself) – if the fridge is designed to run at 0-5º for its size and you're fermenting at ~11-23º, does that still affect the footprint? Reason I ask is I have a (free) bar fridge that's around 900mm high...

    Building fermentation fridges

Hi all, Surely this has been discussed before, but I'd love to see how everyone has built their fermentation fridge in one place. This video looks interesting – and looks like it would save a load of money.

Move To All Grain For Thirty Bucks

Agree there are a lot of other resources out there, but this one was so easy to follow. Hope someone else can do a similar post, and while I have no idea what happened with nick / ahb, the brew community has suffered. BIAB is a gateway to proper beer, at least beer that tastes like beer.

Move To All Grain For Thirty Bucks

What a shame, Nick's pics are gone – Wanted to forward this to a mate to get him into BIAB, sadly it's missing a lot. Can someone contact Nick / AHB to get the pics reposted? This thread is a valuable resource for every aspiring brewer.

How to hide a fridge on the veranda?

Paint them with 'chalkboard' paint, just cover up the chrome bits with tape before you do. Then put batch recipes on there. Or hire a signwriter to do something fancy and ornate with them.

    Weird lager fermentation temps

Sweet, thanks, feeling the need for a fermentation fridge. Don't mind the old Anchor Steam. Fermenter was stuck @5 days for almost a week on 1025... even tho temps never got down to proper lager-yeast temps... strangely dropped to 1024 overnight at the higher temp... What temp do you pitch at...

    Weird lager fermentation temps

Hi all, Have had two lagers sitting in the fermenters for about 10-11 days. Room temp was around 13-15º, but I forgot to add 2ºC to the actual fermentation temp. Initial fermentation was quite rapid at 16-18ºC, then after 5 days it seemed to have become 'stuck' at 1025 once I dropped the...

Trying to get buddies into brewing need help with cheap fermenters

If your university has any of those plastic water-cooler bottles, a bung and airlock works great too.

Trying to get buddies into brewing need help with cheap fermenters

Hey Canuck, You need to tell them it's $78 for ~2.5 cases of beer – cheapest I've seen Coopers is $48 a case. And once the initial's been done, it's $38 a case afterwards including a new fermenter, or if you can wait 8 weeks til your next batch, $16. Alternatively, buy a fresh wort kit for...

    Thank you so much...

Awesome stu, thanks heaps! Now to find a LHBS that stocks it... Any other ales that go that low? Fermenter normally bottoms at 14º, tops at 18º so it's steamlager for now...

Where I'm at – and it's probably not the cheapest part of Sydney – $30 for a 15L fermenter and $20 on grains and hops is still cheaper than a case of Little Creatures or S&W. DU99 – I'm lucky my girl loves beer, unfortunately too cold to do ales at the moment so she'll have to wait a fair while...

Hi guys, I'm new to this whole thing and from Sydney. In January this year I knew nothing about home brew except it seemed like a lot of work, as everyone I knew who were into it were constantly brewing / bottling / cleaning. Then a mate took me to brew a few beers at one of those 'brew on...
