    Gas bottle, rent vs buy

I do swap&go with speedgas. Both my g size argon and my 7kg co2. Don't know how the co2 price compares with BOC but the argon is cheeper to swap than to refill at BOC, and no monthly rental.

If the insert went into the brew (it can't ) it would would not seal at all. If it is lose tighten the nut under the handle. If you wish to disassemble to clean, look down the bore at both ends, one end will have a slot for a large screwdriver you can unscrew (normal right hand thread) the...

Beer is a bit flat, little to no head

Totally flat beer can have a good head, the carbonation helps to maintain it. If you don't have the head forming ingredients all the co2 in the world won't help take Coke for example. Don't use sugar, instead try un hoped malt extract. I put wheat in mine, a can of wheat extract has i think 30%...

    1st allgrain questions

Thanks for the feedback, most welcome. Ph meter had flat batteries so i used paper. I replaced the batteries today and done some tests. The paper and the meter say the same in a ph 4 test solution, but differ in beer. I suspect the colour of the wort is causing the paper to show darker. The beer...

    1st allgrain questions

It's supposed to temp compensate up to 70c.And by the time a 3 or 4 drop sample is taken in a room temp pipette then put onto a room temp refractometer i would think it would be cool. If readings aren't consistent pre boil for whatever reason , would a hydrometer give a more accurate result...
