Mini Keg Discussion / Mods / Show Off - Dedicated Thread

I ordered two 5L kegs from Beerkat on back order in mid March. I recieved them last Tuesday and washed with warm water and dishwashing liquid followed by a Starsan rinse. Filled one from a 19l keg of mid strength ale on Wednesday to have a little play. Reg seems good and beer was fine Wednesday...

    Dog Days Clone

Sure did, Grain bill was pretty much bang on but I will change the hop schedule for the next one. Up the Summit at 10 and only Mosaic and Cascade at 5,0 and dry hop.

    Dog Days Clone

I know there are a heap of people who were not big fans of this beer but given the pathetic range of brews available from the bottle shops up this way, it was the best we had for a long time. Now that LC have stopped producing it, I want to try and clone it for some of my mates who have had...

Where Can You Get A Good Beer In Darwin?

I was drinking One Mile brews at the Precinct a few weeks back and can highly recommend them, it's certainly the best beer you will find in Darwin on tap. I think I felt a tear roll down my face when I had my first sip of the IPA. I had not tasted fresh hops since September and I felt a...

    Using up Specialty Grains

G'day, I have just fired up my 20L Braumeister again after moving north and I think I need to start branching out a bit more with my brewing. Up until now I have always used very basic grain bills, usually around a 60/40 pils/wheat mix with different late hops and US-05 for easy drinking ales...

    Which Yeast?

Thanks for the replies. I'm going to go with the 3724 Belgian Saison pitched at 18 and ramped up to ambient over a few days, then CC at 1*C for a week on 5kg of fresh mango pulp. Cheers again, Pete.

    Which Yeast?

Yep, I have temp control or I can ferment at ambient which is high 30's - low 40's which should give it a fair bit of character. I'm not sure if the mango would go a bit manky at those temps though, I suppose I could rack it onto the fruit and CC for a week after it has finished. That's one...

    Which Yeast?

G'day, I have a very simple 50/50 wheat/pilsner wort with Saaz to 15IBU in a cube in the garage that I want to ferment with a heap of mango pulp for a matso's style easy drinker. I have four yeasts that I think could all work and I can't decide which one to use. I have: 1214 Belgian Abbey...

    Bitterness and Flavour

G'day Guys, In the past I have always brewed other peoples recipes but I want to start punching out a few of my own beers, I like hop forward beers with lots of aroma and low to mid bitterness around the 4% to 5% abv. and 15 to 30 IBU mark. Now to my questions, What is the advantage to having...

    Help with Kimberley Water Profile

I rang the water corp office in Perth who put me through to the guy who handles the north of WA and he emailed me a bit more detail. Looks like calcium 39, sulphate 1.75, magnesium 16. I will check out the Brun Water now. Cheers mate. Pete.

    Help with Kimberley Water Profile

I am about to start punching out some all grain brews in Kununurra W.A. but I am not sure if I should invest in an RO unit or if the town water is salvageable. Fluoride 0.43 Alkalinity (as CaCO2) 220 Chloride...

    Double pipe wort chiller

Do you rekon it would be hard to incorporate a pond pump/ice bath into this for hitting lower temps than ground water? If you had tap water for the first three quarters and ice water pumped through the last quarter?
