    Kegging and Odd Flavours

Hey guys, Well it's been a little while now since I got my first BIAB down. I made a Galaxy Golden Ale. I cold crashed and then transferred direct to the keg. Prior to dumping it into the keg. I connected up the gas and I went through a few cycles of pressuring the keg, venting...

BIAB Help - A few questions

Hey all, First time back here since 2016 or something. Mrs decided she'd be nice and shouted me some keg gear, so I thought now sounded like a good time to get back into brewing. Unfortunately for me, I haven't brewed anything since 2016 and whilst the overall understanding is there, a lot of...

Pacific Ale - Dry Hop Alternative

Hey guys, I've put down a batch of the Stone and Wood Pacific Ale, now I've done this before and I've enjoyed the recipe, but this time around, I don't have any additional Galaxy to dry hop with. And I strained the hops out when they went into the fermenter. So I'm fearing it may be a...

    Hop boil liquid

Now I'm hoping this is an easy question. I'm a kit brewer, in the past with hop boils I have been boiling in 500g of ldme, to 5L of water. Is there a reason for doing the boil with the ldme? Could I do the hop boil in plain water instead?

Brew suggestions? What to put down

Hey guys, My brews have getting more and more complex with additions and the like of late, not that this is a problem at all! But I wanted to keep my next brew simpler, as money is a bit tight at the moment. Inventory: 500g LDME. Packet of Chinook Hop Pellets Packet of Cascade Hop Pellets...

    Bottle now, or wait?

Hey Guys, Well I've got a Chubby Cherub fermenting at home, I put it on 8 days ago and the last time I checked it was down to about 1020, still a way off. Now, I'm hoping it finishes fermenting out during the week, but the thing is, I'm out of town for a week as of next weekend. Should I...

    Whitehouse Honey Porter

Hey guys, getting in early for when it starts to get a bit cooler. I'm thinking about making up something like this, probably a half batch though. http://www.whitehouse.gov/sites/default/files/whitehouse_files/image/wh_beer_recipe_0.pdf Just looking for advice, are all those hops available...

    Tasting Tips

I had a quick look but can't seem to find a thread like this. For those that love beer, I mean love beer. Could you please pass on some information about tasting, reviewing beer. It's one thing to knock back half a cold stubby on a hot day, but it's another to actually pick up the flavours...

Perhaps an odd question re cold crashing

Hey Guys, me again. I'm going to cold crash for the first time this friday. Most of what I've read about suggests then siphoning from the top to avoid disturbing all the trub/sediment. Now, I don't have a siphon, racking cane, autosiphon or anything like that, and tbh I don't really want to...

    Caribbean Siesta

Hey guys, its a recipe kit from coopers store, just looking for thoughts. Have been eyeing off some kits for a while but with mid to high 30s around here lately I really need an easy drinker. No love for Corona, but yes. Based on the cerveza kit, 1kg of light dry malt. 25g of calypso hops...

Third Brew - Looking for something tasty and simple

Well, I'm looking for some suggestions, it took me quite a while to get through the second brew, and I was hoping to do something light, as it has been really warm here lately. But, with the weather cooling down a touch, I wouldn't mind something full bodied again. Can anybody recommend me a...

    Can I avoid....

Hey all, I'm ready to do my 3rd brew in a week or so, and I'm just hoping to get some clarification. My first ever brew was straight kit, fermented in the garage at around 30 degrees. It was okay considering, I think I was just more excited that I'd made beer. Since the second batch, I can no...
