How to get started in Cider. The definitive(ish) guide to beginner&#39

^Yeah mate, was after something a bit more specific with some actual examples besides "just add sugar" or "just add cordial". The guide is great, and many thanks to Dave for putting it together.

How to get started in Cider. The definitive(ish) guide to beginner&#39

Hey guys, Got 14L of Aldi apple juice and 2L of Aldi apple blackcurrent (thought i'd chuck it in there, why not!) and half a kilo of dex bubbling away in the fermenter. Will transfer to keg this, or next, weekend. Missus isn't fond at all on pear juice/cider so after reading some things on...

    Home Brew Shop Price Variations

+1 brewshop/ESB. I've shopped around to other places in Sydney and the brewshop are by far the cheapest! I wonder how much it costs to ship 25kg of grain...

    Long Term Beer Storage

Damn, that was what I was afraid someone would say! Would it be better just to leave the grain in a sealed plastic tub? Keep in mind it is already cracked. So my choice is use stale grain in 6 months time, which will make drinkable beer. Or brew now and drink stale beer in 6 months time...

    Long Term Beer Storage

I'm going on a holiday in December, which will last for at least 6 months. My problem is I have ingredients for two brews -grain already cracked so I want to put down the brews before I go. Along with 1 brew that is fermenting at the moment and will be ready to keg this weekend. Plus another...

    Bubbles In Gas Line

I used to get bubbles in my beer line. It was because I force carbed (cold keg @ 300kpa for 24 hours then leave regulator at around 80-90kpa for a few days) and because my beer line was too wide (6mm) and too short (2meters) i turned the regulator down to around 50kpa (after the beer was fully...

RecipeDB - Little Fella's Pale Ale

^I too would like to know! I've had mine in the keg and in the fridge for around 3 weeks now, tried it a few days ago and the bitterness still slapped me in the face! Here's to hoping 1 more week it will be magic!

    Rinsing Yeast (in Pictures)

Hey guys, just tried to rinse a WLP013 London Ale yeast and got the following: First Rinse: Second Rinse: I only dry hopped .4 grams per litre, but my 0min hop additions were in the cube...which I think a lot ended up in the fermenter when I transferred. But still, cube hops plus dry hops...

Back Into Brewing......and The World Ha Changed!

I'm new to BIAB and after following Nick JD's BIG W pot guide a few times then I managed to pick up a 40L urn from Grays Online for $30. No heating up extra water for sparging, no squeezing of the bag etc. Heat water, put bag in, dump grain in, wrap urn up in old blankets, go have a couple...

    RecipeDB - AUSSIE AMBER ALE

Going to brew this tomorrow and am wondering how to adjust for no-chill? Plugging the recipe into Brewmate spits out an IBU of 41.1 Click no-chill and it bumps the IBU right up to 75.4   If I go the whole "deduct 20 mins" for no-chill by say making the 60 mins hop addition to...

    Free Beer And Mates

Reading the topic on this thread I thought you were giving away free beer....and your mates. My friends tend to say "This is the best brew you've done so far!" Quickly followed by "Pour us another one." You know the saying: Free beer always taste the best! edit:gramarrrr

30L Urn Whats everyones thoughts on this? Looks fairly cheap. Looking at making 23L BIAB brews. Currently using a stovetop and 20L pot. Would this 30L urn do full volume brews without having to sparge?

    Rinsing Yeast (in Pictures)

I'm very new to brewing so I think i will try rinsing the liquid wheat yeast and see a) if it actually works and b.) if I notice the taste difference (lack of banana esters as you explained) I've looked into splitting yeast vials, but 'stepping up' starters confusing the sh*t out of me. Plus...

    Rinsing Yeast (in Pictures)

Oops! Well this was just a trial run on some safbrew S33. Real test will be saving some of the WLP300 that I'm going to put down this weekend. Tad more expensive than the dried yeast I'm used to buying!!

Brewed this last weekend and its now cubed and ready to go as soon as I have the time to get a starter going! I absolutely love erdinger cloudy at my local german restaurant, if this tastes remotely like it i will be so impressed!! I used Joe white pilsner instead of Weyermann and I ran out...

    Rinsing Yeast (in Pictures)

Thanks Yob, I thought that was the first part of the rinsing? As per instructions in OP? Am I right in thinking that the light brown liquid that takes up 95% of the jar in the picture I posted is not yeast? Or better yet, won't be yeast when I pitch in a few weeks. So when making a...
