SYD - Bar fridge, bottles, mini keg, burner.

Looking to part with my bar fridge that I was using as a fermenting fridge. Fits a 30L fermenter nice and snug which is great for energy efficiency. Lower shelf broke and I was using a paint tin to prop up but I'd recommend throwing in a piece of plywood. Has latches on the side to ensure a...

Huge all grain brewing collection for sale

Sorry to hear about your loss. I've just shared this on Inner Sydney Brewers and Western Sydney Brewers Facebook pages.

    Recirc e-BIAB pickup

MitchD and others, maybe just as a quick follow-up. Have you actually installed a reduced bore barb in your whirlpool return? How small did you go? Let's say 13mm is full bore, would 10mm or 8mm be appropriate? Cheers!

    Inline temp probe method

The stainless tube in the temp probe is 50mm long, so the gland would have to go over that and not the cable itself. I presume that's OK?

    Inline temp probe method

Legends, all of you. Looks great! Actually the max ID of this gland (USA020) is 6mm and the diameter of the probe is 6mm, so it could be too small, but the USB020 has a max ID of 8mm and would probably work better with some heat paste. Has anyone used one of these and can confirm that a 15mm...

    Inline temp probe method

OK, so if I've got this right, I could use a thermowell like this (1/2" internal thread x 1/2" external thread). Fill it with heat sink paste and put the temp probe in. Seal it with epoxy glue. Then use a waterproof SS cable gland like this (1/2" thread) to keep the probe inside the...

    Keg King plumbing fittings

I found KK only slightly more expensive than 2014online but much cheaper than some other online HBS's (I'd rather not name names). For a little bit more, I'd rather use KK than eBay assuming KK will have better after-sale service and possibly more reliable quality.

Thanks everyone for the great responses. Sounds like there are some happy KK customers.

    Inline temp probe method

Please pardon my ignorance, but I thought the stainless steel encapsulation shown in the first picture is essentially a thermowell. It's advertised as "waterproof" and is rated from -55°C to +125°C. I assume that the only reason to put it inside another thermowell is because this one has no...

    Keg King plumbing fittings

I've been pricing up a 1V recirc build and comparing costs from different sites. Most sites have the total between $450 and $500. Then I checked the KK site and they came in just under $300. It's basically the same as eBay (2014online) prices. Has anyone used KK plumbing fittings (ball...

    Inline temp probe method

I've bought a DS18B20 temp probe like the following: I'm trying to fit it inline near the outlet from my Crown urn using a tee-piece. One method I found was to buy a 1/2" MNPT x 1/4" compression fitting, but they are so hard to find. Brewhardware.com in the States sell one, but the...

    Crown urn top return

Actually, do you think there's an advantage to using a 45 instead of just putting a 90 before the ball valve? I know a 90 means that there is still a horizontal part, but the bulk head (or threaded pipe will be hozontal anyway and a 90 won't add much to it..

That's a really interesting tip (and not one that I've commonly seen in many setups). Cheers!

    Crown urn top return

You might just be on to something! I agree, hand tight is fine as long as there's a bulkhead keeping the wort in the kettle. In fact, there's probably not much need for the camlocks or QDs at all. I have been trying to avoid QDs based on bad reviews and the fact that most stores in Aus don't...
