Grain and Grape 'grain book' question

Probably been asked a million times but I did a quick search and couldn't see much on this. Could someone please explain how the grain book prices, weights etc. work to me like I'm a half cut homebrewer? Cheers.

Finally, over a year later I'm back set up and brewing!

I've had over a year out of brewing. I've moved house in this time and have finally got the time to set up all my brew equipment again, turn on the ferment and keg fridges and I'm drinking my first homebrewed APA for over a year!! My first brew back was a surprisingly relaxed affair! Just...

    Tooheys Old Dark Ale

I'm going to say it. I like this beer. I recently went on a roadtrip to Cairns and back from Ocean Grove and this was a beer that I could find in most places so it became a staple for my caravan fridge when I couldn't grab a local APA style. I'm back at home now but I just did it, I bought a...

    Connor Breware update?

I bought a few items from here and was really happy, but it seems to have bit the dust, at least to me. Anyone know what happened?

Monster Mill old 3 roller v 'new' 2 roller design

Thinking of purchasing a new grain mill. I've decided on a Monster Mill but at present the 'old style' 3 roller mill is actually 5 dollars less than the new style 2 roller mill. Has anyone got either mill that could let me know what they think of them? Cheers

    Cleaning brewing equipment

Appears that I have not been giving my equipment enough cleaning after my brewday. Here's what I do now any improvements I can make or should this be ok. Clean off HLT after last sparge water is gone, just a wipe and drain, leave ball valves open. Scoop grain out of mash tun, rinse with hose...

Enjoying a four pack of Murray's pale ale then.....

A gusher, into the glass while I was watching the soccer looked down to see a foaming beer. Quick taste and confirmation from the stubby that something went amiss with this one. A similar smell to a keg I once had that didn't seal properly and sat in the fridge lagering for a month before I...

    Brewmate whirlpool addition calculation's?

Just putting together a recipe using brewmate and I was wondering how people are calculating their whirlpool additions? I have just been calling them a 5 minute addition for the purpose of calculating IBU's but wanted to see what others are doing. I really love the software, seem's to get me...

Who Brews Sail And Anchor Beer?

Just did a search to see where this beer is now brewed but didn't turn anything up other than it's not at the pub of the same name any more. I'm sure someone knows, I've got a few of them as my kegs have run dry due to a slow leak into my mouth, coupled with SWMBO curtailing my brewing. I've got...

    No-chiller Moving To Immersion Chiller

Hi, I've just finished another batch with my immersion chiller. When I No-Chilled I was able to get a really good whirlpool going at flameout and leave most of the trub in the kettle. Now I'm chilling I realise I will have cold break in the kettle, however taking this into account I cannot seem...

    New Mash Tun

I'm testing a new Techni-ice 80l esky outside at the moment that I will be using for my new mash tun. It has 25 litres of water in it so lot's of headspace, water after 2mins was at 70.6 after 45 minutes it's dropped to 66.2. I have checked at the 30 minute mark as well so that lost some...

    Thanks For All The Info

I am sampling my first all grain beer at the moment and it's by far my best beer. I've been doing extract batches and made the leap to AG and Kegging after lurking on the site and reading as much as I could. I made Little Fellas pale ale but used amarillo in place of the chinnok as I could not...
