Malleys Gas fired Copper - going cheap

Hi Brewhounds I have an old Malleys Gas-fired copper which I pulled out during a recent renovation. It has the gas ring in the base, and was set up for natural gas. It needs a clean up, and probably a bit of TLC before you can use it. $75 bucks or best offer.. Also have an inversion chiller...

Hops Rhizomes - Cascade, Williamette, Chinook, Tettnang and POR

Sorry for slow reply Dave, been away... It's too late in the season now, and the hops are growing madly (if not already budding). I wouldn't be doing you any favours trying to send you any now. Best time to get them is around June, that way you get the 'dormant' rhizomes which will survive...

Rhizomes - Cascade, Chinook, Williamette, PoR, Tetnang

Update on Replies from state quarantine departments: - still waiting for Tassie. - WA is a 'no' at the moment (sending from Victoria) due to the presence of potato cyst nematode in Victoria which can apparently be transported in corms and bulbs. BB

    Help - Boiled The Bag!

Hi Ian, Can't recall the actual recipe - I put it together with the guy from a LHBS in Richmond (can I say who?), but it started with the Mangrove jack white pack of Blonde Lager, added a can of LME, boiled some crushed grain (that's the tricky bit - I can't recall what grain it was...), and...

    Help - Boiled The Bag!

Just a follow up - have managed to drink the entire batch - it turned out better than the 'real thing'... Thanks to all for the help and humour... To paraphrase Wyane - was Beer, Was Good! BBR

    Help - Boiled The Bag!

Thanks Glen - I'll keep on with it, and see if it ferments OK, and if it tastes OK - I've choked down some pretty ordinary beers over the years, this one can only be so 'drinkable'... I may be panicking over nothing - as Charst says, it may just turn out to be a more bitter brew. BBR

    Help - Boiled The Bag!

Only a couple of minutes before I realised. The 'bag' I am talking about has Malt extract, Barley Extract, Caramel, Hop Extract, and dried brewing yeast. You steep some crushed grain, strain, then boil up the liquor, add a can of light malt extract to it, 250gm of wheat malt, add hops, boil 2...

    Help - Boiled The Bag!

Happily brewing a replica J.SquireGolden Ale kit....After carefully reading the instructions, I think I may have done the new brew in... For some reason, probably old age and thirst related, I tipped the Mangrove Jack Blonde Lager pouch into the saucepan when I was boiling up the sugars and...

How Did Your First Brew Taste?

Just drinking stubby number 3 from first brew now, 3 weeks after bottling. I thought it was Cascade, supplied with the fermenter kit, followed the instruction pretty closely....what is it with the apple flavour? Tried the first one last week, after 2 weeks in the bottle...pretty ordinary, not...
