    Online suppliers

Hey all, Just wondering if anyone knows any good Australian online suppliers for ingredients? Finding time to get to my LHBS is limited by Uni and as a student running on a very tight budget the costs there are... *shrug* a little higher than I'd like. Example: LHBS sells capper for $65.00 Ebay...

Least careful you've been sanitising without an infection

My sanitation depends on the brew; Beers EVERYTHING gets the bleach treatment. Bottles, spoons, taps... everything. But I never boiled my extracts (including the extra extracts I added to the no-boil-necessary) until I started a no-kit recipe. My meads however get comparatively less attention-...

    Brewing with VERY limited resources.

Bugger the negative nellies on this one andy, I say go for it! Think of it from another angle people. A secure compound out in the desert... high walls... just pretend it IS a prison camp.... make a game out of sneaking ingredients past the missus... *shrug* I am a perverse individual. As far...

First time Off the Reservation (No Kit Recipie!)

Hey all, I've been brewing for about two years now (with a break. Stupid moving house), and am settling into a serious production line now... I bottled a dark ale today, and having got that behind me, I feel it's time to make the jump away from pre-hopped kit + kilo, and go for my own extract...

    Found some spare yeast...

Hey all, Finally got my brewing kit out after my move a year ago, cleaned up and making some christmas mead! It's good to be back playing with booze... Anyways in my parusing of my supplies I found, sitting in the back of my fridge, some yeasts. Some S04 and a sachet from a kit of morgans to...

    Mead! Mk Ii And Iii

Ok guys, the mead got racked today... fermentation is stopped or very nearly there... all that's left to do is let it clear. I read some reports of using bentonite to clear wines, beers and meads and was quite intruiged, not least of all as I'm a bit worried about the problem with oxidation...

    Mead! Mk Ii And Iii

The honey makes the price a little bit more, but your return is still a lot cheaper than the (quite limited) store available meads... I spent 30 bucks each on my 5 litre batches (not including equipment). Love the reward of a tasty mead though!

    Mead! Mk Ii And Iii

So after the resounding sucess of my last mead (4 bottles left -2 for dad for chrissy, 1 to share for chrissy, 1 to show gf's family for chrissy), I decided to put down 2 more this weekend and establish a special christmas reserve of a bottle or two from each not to be opened until next...

    My First Mead!

Wow... can you believe I forgot to take an OG reading? Such a silly mistake.... What I reckon I'll do is take a poke in a month and see how she's going, and work it from there, be it work in an ice bucket treatment or leave it be and just bottle it 2 weeks before chrissy perhaps...? Or bottle...
