    Blood Orange Dark Farmhouse Saison

Long shot here, but I used to have a Blood Orange Dark farmhouse Saison recipe (99% sure supplied by Shawn Sherlock somewhere online), but I can't find it anywhere on my laptop and suspect it was lost in the great hard drive crash of 2016. I have an altered hard copy where I'd omitted the blood...

    Hunter New England Brewers club?

I work in Tamworth during the week (so for all intents and purposes I live here), is there a brew club active in the area? The beer scene seems to be growing slowly with the Pig and Welders Dog particularly offering some decent beers, and New England Brewing company just up the road a bit.

    Heated stir plate

I have decided to (for the most part) stop yeast washing after a batch, and instead build up a larger starter from the smack pack... usually smack pack into 5L of wort, once it has stopped doing its thing split off ~ 60mL of pure yeast into a vial to be used for building up next time, and pitch...

    Conical fermentor EOI

I am currently in talks with a supplier in China for a 30L 304 SS hopper with SS lid and v-clamp, 2" tri-clamp ferrule fitting on the base of the 60 degree cone. Quoted price is ~ $190 for the fermentor, I have also asked for a 2" butterfly valve which is quoted ~ $41, I'm waiting to hear...

    Wine barrels Newcastle

I've got two 220L wine barrels that I no longer need, they were used to house hops and proved plenty of room for the rhizomes to develop. If you are growing hops or you just want to grow something in them then look no further. Holes are drilled in the bottom, the top hoops are a bit loose...

    WTB D.A tap

I'm doing an upgrade on the kegerator and I need one more D.A tap to have them all nice and uniform, happy to pay or swap for a ss Perlick that I have. If anyone has one laying around or upgrading their taps that would be great.

    Under bench fridges

Does anyone use one for housing their kegs? Since the death of my chesty I have been approved by the minister for finance to purchase something like: http://www.deluxeproducts.com.au/CyberCool-330L-Three-Door-Under-Bench-Drinks-Bar-Fridge?gclid=COPLjd_jm8cCFZeWvQodUbwBSg but so far the ones...

    Chimps and home brew

    Hop storage

I apologise in advance if this has already been covered, as far as flushing hops goes I know people use N2 or CO2 but is it possible to use Ar? I have a vacuum sealer so that is how I store most of my hops but I also have half a dozen or so glass swing top preserving jars that live in the...

    Calcium Sulphate addition

I brewed a double batch the other day, but didn't check Calcium Sulphate stock levels before brew day, I no chilled so I'm wondering if anyone has added dissolved CaSO4 to the fermenter at the same time as adding the cube contents? One cube is a lager, but the other one I added a bunch of hops...

    Christmas lotto 2014 recipe thread

I've had nothing but cracking beers so far, and by all reports so have the other winners... If anyone who took part in the lotto wouldn't mind posting their recipes here because there's quite a few I wouldn't mind giving a go (and easier than asking individually for every recipe!). Cheers and...

    Yeast nutrient and no chill

Quick question for the no chill boffins, do you just add yeast nutrient at flameout or directly into the cube? Has anyone just made up the yeast nutrient in say a cup of boiling water and added to the fermenter when pouring the cube in? I usually chill (95% of the time) but aiming to knock out...

    Oxygen Cylinder

Does anyone know where/if it is possible to buy a food grade O2 bottle? I'm hoping to move away from disposable canisters and not really keen to hire from Boc if I can help it, next purchase is a 6.8kg CO2 bottle so want to get out of hiring altogether if possible.

    Visit to Newtown

So the Boss lady and I will be heading down to see Jim Jeffries at the Enmore tomorrow night, can anyone recommend any good pubs around Newtown? Somewhere with a decent tap selection?

    Wyeast 1203- Burton IPA

Has anyone used this yet? Sounds like it'll do nicely in a psuedo-traditional English oak IPA I've got planned, and either way I'll probably give it a go..

    Quick brews

So I'm heading down to the southern highlands for a short term contract soon, was wondering what beer styles lend themselves to being quick turn around beers? I'm thinking of either brewing extract or stovetop ag at a relatives place (that lives about ten minutes away from where I'll be based)...

    Belgian Tripel

    I'm keen to knock out a tripel, and came up with this: Pilsener malt (Weyermann) 7.5kg (96%) Dingemans Aromatic (0.3kg) 4% 20g Magnum @ 60 20g Hallertau Mittelfruh @ 60 10g Hallertau Mittelfrau @ 30 10g Saaz @ 30 Yeast: Wyeast 3787 90-120 min...

    Reusing lager yeast

So I'm just about done with lagering my first lager, and planning on pitching a biggish doppelbock onto the yeast cake. My question is should I let the lager warm back up to 11 or 12 degrees before transferring to keg? So that yeast is back at fermenting temps for when I put the doppel in? I'd...
