Experiment time. Trub in the fermenter. Good or bad?

All my brews are done on the full trub. I use Brewbrite to help precipitate the proteins which then sink to the bottom of the fermenter. I've not noticed any detrimental effects, my beers are clear and taste great.

    Question about b gravity

Get the brew process down properly and produce beer which is drinkable. Then worry about the numbers. Once you know what to tweak, then you can start experimenting. Sounds like you're getting there though.

First starter = broken erlenmeyer flask. Any suggestions?

I always use cold water in my flasks. To which I add the DME, yeast nutrient and foam stopper. The flasks are lowered slowly onto the gas hob, with the flame turned right down, then its full power. Once its boiling, I reduce the heat to a less aggressive boil. After boiling, the flask is slowly...

    Urgent Help!

Fermenting at lower temperatures can also mean that you dont get much visible activity. Especially if you've directly pitched one yeast pack. It will also, as previously stated, take longer to to become active. Leave it for a week and then take a gravity reading.

The Brauduino (Matho’s Controller) Buy thread

As JoshF has stated, it sounds like you have the wires from the temp sensor wired up incorrectly. Thinking back, I had the same issue and found that the document was for a different revision of the board and that the connections had been switched around.

    Recirculating eBiab users help please.

I use a Grain and Grape BIAB bag and I also recirculate. I mainly use recirc to help keep the temperature uniform through the pot, but it also helps when ramping up during step mashes. I have a bazooka thing on the outlet tap which stops the bag from being sucked through. Works a treat.

    First BIAB Done and Dusted.

If it tastes sweet it might not have finished fully fermenting yet. Double check what your FG should be, maybe give the fermenter a swirl to re-suspend the yeast. You dont want to bottle too early.

    Tether: END OF - BIAB

I use a hopsock and remove it after boiling. For hop additions at or after flame out, i empty the hop sock and drop in the aroma hops for 10mins. You could use this method for no-chilling too.

Using an ice immersed wort chiller.

I'd hope that as an old tinkerer, like myself, you'd come up with something like this for chilling: :P I pump my cooling water out of the rain water tank, through the immersion chiller and back into the tank. "No water was lost in the chilling of this wort." And as i'm putting on my...

Melbourne: Grain Bulk Buy September 2013

Who meathead? I wouldnt think that G+G would let you use their scales. The bulk buys tend to be done in the car park outside. However, its always courteous to nip in and pick up a packet of hops or something similar.
