    Balranald Brewery

Cheers, Thanks so much for the information, Alchomist and laxation. More than I could have expected. I'd be interested in hearing from Neil. I know the families who took it over, but as the book says, they didn't operate it for long after the transfer from the original owner.

    Balranald Brewery

Hi all, I'm doing some research into a Brewery which operated in my home town, Balranald NSW, in the late 1800's. I have a feeling that it may be included in the book "The Breweries of Australia" by Keith M Deutsher. Does anyone here have a copy? I was wondering if someone could take a...

    Stout Extravaganza 2015

And they tasted the beer, and it was good. Then they said, come fourth, my son. And I bloody well did. Really chuffed to snag 4th in the Strong Stout Catagory with my Russian Imperial, and equal 4th top score for the event. Too bad you don't get a prize for fourth. Congratulations...

How to Oxidise a 60L batch without a pump?

I've forgotten to Oxygenate before (60L Batch), and I had no probs with attenuation. Sorry to turn into one of these people, but can you tell us: OG, Expected FG, Yeast, Pitch Rate and Ferment Temp.

I'm pretty sure that last point was a joke. At least I hope it was.

    Brewing volumes with keggles

Yep, Higher Gravity with either a gradual top up through the boil, or a fermenter dilution. You can get 2 Cornys per brew.

    Birthday Bendigo Beer Bonanza

Hi guys, I'm turning 40 later this year (fark, that's old). Living in Sunbury, I was thinking of organising a Train Pub Crawl to Bendigo for my Birthday. I need a bit of a hand with the Itinerary. I was thinking of making the first stop Kyneton, and dropping in to the Royal George Hotel...

    FS - 2 1/2 Vessel AG System

Maybe, but when you consider that it was guarenteed legal, cut and fitted with a ball valve, and there was no risk of me stuffing it up, it was money well spent.

    FS - 2 1/2 Vessel AG System

Hi guys, Since my mate and I bought Hendo's old Brew rig, we no longer have use for our old one. I call it 2 1/2 Vessel, because it is made up of two Keggles, and a small Urn to heat the sparge water. Here is a list of the equipment with full retail price: 1 x 20 L Urn (NOT a Birko, and the...

    Is my US05 causing haze?

Hi guys, Racking my brain here. I have been brewing Dr Smurto's Golden Ale recently, and after boiling and whirlpooling (3 vessel, single infusion), I am transfering crystal clear wort to the fermenter. The first time I brewed it on this system, the beer came out perfectly. The past two times...

    Reusing US-05

I see reusing yeast as part of the "craft". It's another variable that you can play with. I wonder if all of those Professional Brewers who use US-05, and reuse it are ruining their beer?

    Black Patent Coffee

After brewing a Stout recently, and marveling at the Coffee, Chocolate and Raisin notes that the Black Patent Malt gives off, I got to thinking. I wondered what it would be like if I used an Aldi Expressi machine to make a Black Patent Coffee. I cut the top off a used Coffee pod, ground some...

    Amarillo - new season coming.

Word is that Budweiser have bought out the contract on most, if not all, Amarillo Hops. Craft Brewers in the States are either going to stockpile, or move away from Amarillo as a result. Not good news for Homebrewers. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk - now Free

    Reusing US-05

I was listening to Jamil Zainasheff on Brew Strong, and he suggested that Hop Flowers are great for the Boil, but when it comes to Dry Hopping, the amount of Lupulin in contact with the beer is less than using Pellets, and therefore prefers Pellets for Dry Hopping. Kind of removes the worry...
