    Making liquid smoke

I would think it's mostly water vapour? As it condenses it probably collects the impurities contained in the smoke, thereby producing liquid smoke.

    Coopers DIY fermenter any good?

I've now used the DIY fermenter to brew almost 400 litres of beer. I love it. I reckon the krausen collar is awesome. Even if the brew will only produce a smal krausen, it's much better to be able to remove the yeasty gunk on the sides of the fermenter before it has caked on, whilst also not...

Coopers selling full kit & bits recipe packs with free postage.

I believe the Coopers kits have a used by date of 2 years after production. When I've ordered from the Coopers store the kits have always had been at least 18 months away from the expiration date. Likewise at my local BigW I can almost always pick up the kit i'm looking for with at least 18...

    Chilli! All Things Chillies.

Well a week after planting the seeds, most have already germinated and are poking up through the soil. I've also managed to get my hands on a small chilli plant (probably about 15cm in height) from the local markets. Hopefully the plants grow up quick and start producing some chillies! :beerbang:

Coopers Extra Strong Vintage Ale Pack

There are two recipes on the Coopers site. I believe the one being discussed in this thread is the 2013 'clone' recipe: http://www.coopers.com.au/the-brewers-guild/how-to-brew/strong/2013-coopers-extra-strong-vintage-ale This recipe gives the option of adding some crystal grain as well as a...

    Chilli! All Things Chillies.

I've had a sudden urge to start adding chilli to everything I cook. I've bought a packet of mixed chilli seeds from Bunnings. Now I'm assuming it's a little later that ideal to start germinating the seeds, I guess early spring would have been better. I've planted some of the seeds directly into...

Home brand draught - what's in the can?

Was the toucan simply the two cans with no additives? What's the resulting beer like in terms of bitterness and colour?

    Brewed today.

Apologies, I forgot about the Thomas Coopers kits. The pure Coopers ale yeast is supplied with 9 kits, including the kit discussed in this thread, which nevertheless goes against your general wording which seemed to be claiming that all Coopers yeast sachets are a mix of ale and lager yeast. So...

    Brewed today.

No, thats a misconception, just like many of the view on this yeast. Only 2 or 3 of the kits have a mix of ale and lager yeast. Most of the kits use a pure ale strain developed by Coopers.

    Brewed today.

:icon_offtopic: I do often wonder if so many "experienced" brewers bag out Coopers yeast, just because it's Coopers. I wonder what they would think of it if it was sold under a different name...

    'battle Of The Toucans'

Did you make it up to 20L like the Coopers recipe? I'll be interested to see what it gets down to with the Belle Saison yeast, should be a interesting one.

    Kit & Kilo recommendations

Coopers Australian Pale Ale and their Canadian Blonde are two kit beers which when made up with 500g dry malt + 250g Dextrose (or Brewenhancer 2) seem to make any drinker happy. I reckon the English Bitters kit is also a cracker, but I guess for you it depends on if the drinkers are willing to...

    Christmas beer

The recipe does not specify which kit to use. I've thought about doing this recipe, never got around to it yet... maybe for Christmas next year. I've looked around to try and find which kit other people have made it with, but without much success. I reckon if/when I make it I'll use the Real...

Too Many Hobbies, Not Enough Time

Coopers brewing kits (fermenter, hydrometer, bottles, etc) can be picked up cheap from online classifieds, I've often seen unopened kits going for bargain prices.

    Coopers Euro Lager - colour

how are you judging its colour? Are you saying it's dark because of the color of the malt extract? Is it still in the fermenter? The only real way to judge the colour will be when you pour it from the bottle after a good amount of conditioning. Yeast in suspension can drastically change how the...

    Oatmeal stout partial

As far as I can tell the oats are just normal rolled oats, i think 'Quick Oats' are in tiny little pieces. Would this really end up being more sweet that if I had just added a 1.5kg malt extract can in with the stout can instead of doing a mash? And I always imagined an oatmeal stout being a...

    Oatmeal stout partial

hey guys, so i'm going to be doing my first partial tomorrow. I'm thinking of using the following (as it's what i have on hand): Coopers stout tin 500g light dry extract 1kg Export Pilsner Malt 500g Rolled Oats 200g Crystal malt 100g Roasted Barley Final volume will be 23 litres. So I plan...
