I'm just rebuilding a couple of those at the moment. I think they are called Mytton kegs. You can get a complete replacement seal kit here. There are a lot of different sizes, it might be 23L, but then again it might be 18, or 20.

Are you sure it's the oats that are giving you the stuck mash? How is your manifold / braid set up (I presume you are 3V?) Do you have sparge problems with no oats in the bill?

BrewMate have taken enough of your money at those grain prices. Look on ebay for an aquarium temperature controller, or an STC-1000, and get a sparky mate to wire it up for you (I wouldn't dare suggest you wire it up yourself using instructions on this forum, that'd be irresponsible). All up...

I think the problem comes when actually using the Losses to Trub and Chiller (in Brewmate anyway, other software could call it something else) to try and account for those losses. I just tried increasing my Losses to Trub and Chiller to 100L to make it obvious, the only values that changed were...

Iralosavic, you shouldn't need to adjust anything from your original recipe to calculate efficiency, in fact you have to keep it "as is". I use Brewmate too. In the Brewday mode, put in 25.4L and 1.0477 into the Actual Brewhouse Efficiency box. That's your mash efficiency. You can work it...

Yep, ignore the 24.3L, plug 25.4L and 1.0477 into the efficiency calculator, and that'll be your mash (into kettle) efficiency.

I'd look at water purification systems if that's the way you want to go... ;)

As you don't lose any sugars during the boil, only water, as far as I know your pre-boil volume must have been (556/477)*21.8, so 25.4L
