    What Happened To Brigalow?

Wow, My understanding was that Coles nationally ditch HB stuff back in May/June. BigW in Melb CBD dumped it over a year ago and I noticed Woolies has been upping it's prices & lowering it's selection over the past year.

    New Brewer

I only use plastic....some people screw up their noses, but I find the 1.25lt perfect drinking size. They don't explode, they're so much less hassle to wash, you screw the caps on. They take up less room in the fridge. Also you can take a swig during bottle fermenting to see how it's...

    Morgans Royal Oak Amber Ale

I would be tempted to whack the 2nd one in towards the end for 4-5 days....But it will also depends on how quick you want to drink it. With dry hopping/bagging it'll add plenty of flavour, especially if added towards the end. With 30g it'll probably be peaking around the 8-10wk post bottling...

    Morgans Royal Oak Amber Ale

Well I did another JS Golden Ale batch, all kit (after trashing the hotplates I was banned for several - oops :-) 1 can Morgans Amber Ale 1 can Tooheys special lager (it was $4/can so cheaper then malt) 500g dextrose 150g corn syrup 6g Safale yeast dry hop 25ml Amarillo on day 5 for 4 days...

    Morgans Royal Oak Amber Ale

the latest one I did 1 can of Morgans Amber Ale 1 kg dextrose 300g light malt 150g corn syrup Morgan Ale yeast (from can) ~15g Amarillo dry hopped, day 1 for 7 days No boiling, etc, all just straight into the fermenter. kept in the fermenter for 14 days then bottled. 4 weeks after bottling -...

    Efficient Bottle Washing Methods

for PET bottles, I shake & rinse after use, screw the cap on When it's bottling time, it's a double sink one side water with a cap full of plain bleach, the other side cold clean water. fill with the first, soak for a few secs, shake it up & down, then empty same with the second side. leave...

    Morgans Royal Oak Amber Ale

Well I didn't have them side-by-side for tasting, but it wasn't a JSGA clone, but a similar style, like VB vs Carlton Draught, or Tooheys & XXXX. Similar, but different. I dry hopped from day one until bottling (7 days later), so it needed 2mths in the bottle to smooth the flavour. IIRC 3mths...

Two Kit Cans - Need More Sugar & Hops?

Thanks Lodan! toucan - doh, I was searching for two cans & multiple cans. (I thought I'd seen plenty of posts previous about this) the Tooheys seems pretty hoppy. I just wanted something like a coopers pale ale, but drinkable inside 2mths, as I'm getting ready for BBQ season. Maybe dry hop...

Two Kit Cans - Need More Sugar & Hops?

Cleaned out the local Coles with the last of their HB. I'm thinking of doing a Coopers Pale Ale & adding in a toohey's draught can instead of malt+dextrose & ringwood hops. (then some Muntons gold yeast). D you guys think the cans be enough or should I add some dextrose/corn sugar, malt & hops...

    Sunlight?

The industry call it Light-Strike According to the local CSIRO, green bottle aren't much better then clear bottles at protecting the hops from souring due to exposure to different types of light. (UV mostly I believe) http://www.csiro.au/solutions/Sunscreen-For-Bottles.html...

    Brisbane Bottleshops

I assume you're talking of Int'l beers? If I remember correctly there's a couple of good bottlos in The Valley (I think the Elephan & Wheelbarrow bottlo is quite good) Also there was another on Bruswick street, amongst the restaurants where Sushi Train is. We founded some Quebec beers there...

    Fruit Beers

Hiya Guys! whilst capping a few lagers 6weeks ago, ((woolies)Lager, 1kg dextrose, saaz hops teabag) I was eatting a madrarin & wondered what would happen if I popped 1/3 of a peel into a bottle.......well I open it today and it's fantastic! that crisp Saaz taste, but a very distinctive...

    After Taste

Hiya Guys! Thanks for all your helpful tips & advice! Especially Snow - those sites are very good! Not sure how many bottles would last 6mths (lucky to last 3mths @ my house) As for hygene, I was surprised @ how finicky some are & all the chemicals they were using....I just use bleach. I've...

    After Taste

Hiya! First post from a new Homebrewer. I realise that you guys probably frown upon making homebrew out of a can But I have a question.... I've noticed that my first 2 batches (a lager & stout from a Coopers can) have a bit of a bi-carb soda after taste... Would this because I've added too...
