    hop flowers

My understanding is that you'd get more out of the hops if you put it before the chiller i.e. kettle -> hopback -> chiller -> fermenter.

Top 10 Beer Bottling Tips to Make Bottling Day a Success

Nope. Done this many times and never had an issue. I don't bother rinsing now though. Now I just soak clean bottles (i.e. no crud in them) in a sodium percarbonate solution for a while then, put them on a bottle tree to drain out. Beer goes in them as they come straight off the bottle tree.

Dedicated Grainfather Guide, Problems and Solutions Thread

Thanks for those links to upgrade guys, I'll check them out when I get home today. Yep, Rawlus, that's basically what I mean, however I'd like to avoid messing around with the pump outlet. Ideally, a QD installed immediately after the ball valve with the corresponding end on the other side of...

Dedicated Grainfather Guide, Problems and Solutions Thread

Anyone adapt their Grainfather outlet to 1/2" for use with other chillers or a hopback with 1/2" fittings? I've tried checking directly with the Grainfather guys but I still haven't got a reply from them. I've search the web for hours and I'm surprised to see find basically nothing on this...

Dedicated Grainfather Guide, Problems and Solutions Thread

Thanks wobbly, I had a look at that but I still don't know if it's simple to do on the GF. Does anyone know if a 3/8" fitting will screw on to the GF outlet? I'm hoping it's that simple but I don't have an 3/8" female fitting to test it.

Dedicated Grainfather Guide, Problems and Solutions Thread

Just got one of these units on the weekend. Can't wait to fire it up! The chiller that came with mine is on a bit of a lean so it doesn't sit that nicely on the lid, as it is supposed to. I have a plate chiller though and was toying with the idea of a hoprocket at some stage in the near future...

    That'll do. Thanks!

    Good source for camlock gaskets?

Rats recently got into my brewing gear! Seems they have a taste for silicone and a few of my of my camlock gaskets are gone. Anyone know a good source for these?

Cleaned mine after bottling on the weekend... Got the vast majority of crud off with a just a hose, then all she needed was gentle wipe to remove the remaining stuff! About 1,000,000 times better than cleaning out the Willow jerry can with a sponge on a stick, like I used to!

Haha yeah, I feel a little closer to the pros. Should wait for the results before I get too carried away though. I have the 7 Gal. Yeah Cocko, I'm actually looking forward to cleaning it! First time I've ever looked forward to cleaning....

My first brew for my Chronical is about one week into the ferment. I didn't know I could love stainless steel so much!

Wanted to emphasis to those with or thinking about getting on of these fermenters that a decent clean prior to use is recommended. I cleaned my Chronical and the fittings with TSP on the weekend and the water ends up pretty murky! Then I filled with a StarSan solution for about half an hour to...

quick release fittings for new setup where to buy

I recently dropped in on Nev for fittings and hoses etc. I'm just getting started with all this extra gear so it was good to make sure everything fit together nicely before purchasing. He stocks camlocks and quick disconnects so you can compare them and see what suits you best.

What else to get with a plate chiller?

What pump do you have? I'm thinking a pump would be a good purchase, however if it should be able to circulate hot cleaning solution would a March pump be the best choice? Would be great if it could also circulate icy water during the chilling too. Is there a type of pump that can do it all?

Cheers sjp770, I think I've got my head around it now. I just need an extra tri-clamp, gasket and a 1/2" female threaded section to fit behind the butterfly valve to easily attach a QD or whatever else...and just make sure it's all 1.5" triclover stuff.

What else to get with a plate chiller?

In the case of a Blichmann Therminator plate chiller where the inputs and outputs are on opposite sides of the unit, I suppose if you orientate it to that all ins and outs are on the high side (i.e. stand it on it's short end) it'll always be full of wort and not need a wort flow control tap on...

What else to get with a plate chiller?

I've just got myself a plate chiller and want to know if a tap (ball valve or butterfly valve?) on the 'cool wort out' side is recommended? My understanding is that using a tap in this location will ensure that the chiller is always 100% full of wort where as using a tap upstream i.e. on the...

Brewtech SS fermenting vessels discussion thread

I'm happy to say I've just taken delivery of a 26L Chronical and after reading about the potential sanitation difficulties with the included ball valves I'm keen to switch them out to butterfly valves. Sounds a bit silly but I have no prior experience with valves so the various types, sizes and...

    Where To Go In Munich

Heading back there around early October and can't wait. Loved it the first time! Will be travelling down from Berlin via the Autobahn - about a 6 hr drive from what I can see. Plenty of recommendations in this thread of things we missed on the first visit, so I've got my work cut out for me!
