    Catch Up??

G'day folks. Long time no see. Anyone keen for a catch up in the next couple of months? I'm happy to host, although it's a bit out of town for most of you. (Myrniong) Plenty of room for a swag though. Otherwise, a Ballarat pub might be easier for most. Most of May and June Saturdays are clear...

    Ballarat Crawl

Oh oh, there's another meet I've missed! I don't seem to have a good relationship with the ahb website, I can only seem to get it to work a couple of times a year. Wouldn't have been able to get there any way, as I'm in Thailand (seems thai computer s work better with ahb than mine). Deano...

    Your favourite aroma hops

Yes, I'd say it was the equivalent of hops in the cube when no chilling, as I don't bother cubing, just let the hot wort cool in the fermenter. I've just developed a theory (right or wrong) that as these hops in the fermenter are not being boiled, they might not lose aroma to the atmosphere, but...

    Your favourite aroma hops

I've got a bit of a love affair with Galaxy going on at the moment, as anyone who's tried my last 10 brew will confirm. With pale ales or ambers, whatever the bittering hops, I chuck 20 grams of Galaxy in the fermenter and pour the hot wort onto it. I imagine I'll get sick of it after a while...

    The BAR in Creswick

Tasting notes from 2 of the swappers. Disclaimer: These notes are a combination of mine, and my lovely wife, who obviously has extraordinarily good taste, haha. Please note, we are beer drinkers, not judges, so the following is just what we thought. Also, as I'm not adept enough to tell what...

    The BAR in Creswick

Perfect setting, perfect weather, great pizzas and about 10 beers on tap, can it get any better?? Thanks a lot Wakka, and all those who came, it was a very good night. Shame I had to work today, could easily kicked on. My swap beer has 353 written on the cap, or, maybe 352? I've called it...

    The BAR in Creswick

Not long now, Wakka! What time do you want us to show up? As far as the swap bottles are concerned, I've just got my batch number written on the caps, is that OK, or do you want me to put some other label on them as well? I'll probably bring a party keg of APA for drinking on the night. Cheers

First Biab attempt - one query before take off

Raise the bag. Place fridge rack on the urn. lower the bag onto rack. Push down on bag with a piece of wood. Simple, safe, easy.

First Biab attempt - one query before take off

I use a 40 litre Jomack urn, and start with 31 litres. If I use 32 litres, the level comes to the very top of the urn when I add the grain. It does drop a little as the water is absorbed. If I need to do a longer boil than 60 mins, I add water after mash out. Good luck.

Beer in Bottles, How old is too Old?

The oldest I've tried so far, was 14 years. 1 kit stout, and 2 kit Munich lagers. Both fantastic. they'd been in a cupboard in the shed since we moved, and I'd forgotten about them. I'm pretty sure I've got a couple of boxes in an old fridge behind a heap of junk which I'm planning to dig out...

    Brewers Around Thirroul?

Any brewers in the Bulli, Thirroul, Austinmer etc. area like to share a beer with a like minded soul in the next week? I'll be visiting in laws, and may need a break ;) Send me a pm if interested. Cheers

    Truckwits

Yeah, that's basically my point. Beerhog, I agree almost entirely with what you say, and agree that there are a lot more shit car drivers on the road than truck drivers. My two main points were, that the potential energy a truck has, demands a more skilled driver, and, because they do it for a...

    Truckwits

Cocko, I recon the best time for posting is when liquored up on truth serum:) Anyway, it's good to get some replies, conversation was the motivation for the post. As far as judging is concerned, only the idiots need to fear, the rest can rest easy. I know there are thousands of shit drivers on...

    Truckwits

Why is it that whenever there's a death at a level crossing, people jump up and down blaming the infrastructure, and not the dickhead who drove in front of the train? And, while I'm on the box, when are truckwits going to be held responsible for the power over life and death they command, mostly...
