    Sandgroper Christmas Case 2010

I have not brewed in over a year and sadly let the team down last year with not attending at GL's house. But I do miss you guys and the kind of talk that only ever happens amongst brewers. If I promise to bring beer, can I come along? It's on the 4th, right?

    Say No, To Beer Snobbery!

If you acted the same way about wine it wouldn't be called snobbery, but people think wine is sophisticated and beer is not. My pet hate is restaurants with BYO-wine only. I just take beer along anyway and if questioned I ask them if their beer list is designed to complement their menus and...

Are non-entrants permitted to attend the case swap? (I'll bring ikan bilis...)

Cheap Ag Set Up For Sale In Perth

Sincerely buoyed by the show of support, and Darren I would definitely be keen on standing around watching someone else brew once in a while. In fact maybe I should whip off a quick one before Sinkas takes it all away (knowing it will never happen). But I haven't stopped brewing: still got my...

Cheap Ag Set Up For Sale In Perth

Guys the kit went last night to sinkas who sent me a PM. Sorry to those who missed out. Tony, you are right. They are a bunch of crooks, and they are low on my list of priorities. But the brewing passion has just faded a little. I still go misty eyed over a well-poured La Fin de Monde and...

Cheap Ag Set Up For Sale In Perth

Hi Linc. Truth is I have been buying cartons for months now and haven't brewed AG since last xmas case. Brewing just seems so very unlikely given work is about to step up a notch or two soon. My shed is crazy-full, spilling onto my unsightly front verandah, so it's all gotta go. If I feel...

Cheap Ag Set Up For Sale In Perth

Buy the guts of your all grain system for $100. For sale are The frame in the pic with four-ring burner, and an electric hot liquor tank with thermostat wired in. I'll throw in a 50 litre kettle with fitted ball valve (not pictured), for free. Basically all you need are a mash/lauter...

    Sandgroper Case Info

Nobody said fishy, except those who said they couldnt taste fishy. What I remember is that I caught a whiff of mollusc upon opening and it surprised me, I wasnt looking for it or expecting to find it just by opening the bottle. (Though a lot of gas came out of that bottle.) It was not briny...

    February It Is

Well done PM for kicking the durries. Foul foul things. I still want them when I play cards. Yep still sober. Much easier now.

Yep moderation is the answer in the long run, but I'm not punishing myself, just seeing if I can hack a month off the grog. The fact that it takes some effort tells me it was a good idea. At the end of the month I won't go on a bender. Hopefully be more inclined to find a few AFDs each week.

Hard at the ball! Top stuff. The truth is, this hasn't been all that easy. I have had to put some effort into it every day. Good to read these posts.

    February It Is

Weekend was a bit odd. Kept thinking of having a beer, then realising I couldn't. Seemed like there was more time on the weekend than usual. No problems really, but it does require some effort. (I had to taste a gravity sample yesterday. Barely a swallow, so I'm not counting it...

    New Australian Drinking Guidelines

I've spoken to quite a few junkies about this subject (my line of work) and they all agree. Cigarettes are much harder to kick than smack. One of them told me the hardest addiction to quit was internet porn, then cigs, then hammer. A month off the grog? Easy. (Day 4 for me.)

    New Australian Drinking Guidelines

Fair enough. But the fact that you currently want to do what you are now doing doesn't mean you couldn't possibly be happy doing something else. Especially if it comes with improved health. If you can't get what you want. Want what you get.

    New Australian Drinking Guidelines

Alcohol causes health problems that cost money. These guidelines are designed to save us all money. They dont force you to do anything. When you are informed, you can make an informed decision. Its a mistake to think that my life shortened by drinking will be happier than my life lengthened...

    February It Is

Only just saw this thread. Drank (tho not drunk) on the 1st and 2nd, but this is a good idea. Feeling fat after festive season and just can't shift a few kilos despite exercise. It is clearly the piss. I'm in for the rest of the month. DB

    What To Scoff First?

Maybe: 1? 3 4 2 6 5 7 If the Hobgoblin is fresh, have it on its own. Lovely lovely drink. Drink it last after the other 6 and you might be too drunk to appreciate it.

    Is Homebrewing A Creative Outlet?

Thanks Mark. I hoped I'd get a laugh. I was just having a tease really. Case, I didn't actually realise you had started this thread. And with a valid question too. I only read the attempts at deciding if beer is art. Sinkas approaches brewing in an inspired way and comes up with awesome...
