Buying A 40 Litre Urn For Biab

Crundle, To clarify my point about the boil, the 2400W urn definately boils the wort. It just takes time and never really boils as vigourously as I would like. When I did use the urn as a boiler, I would initially run the urn plus an immersion element to bring to the boil quickly and...

Buying A 40 Litre Urn For Biab

Hi Crundle, I also have a Jomack Urn. I initially used it in my 'All in one brewery' for a similar purpose to BIAB. Although I only brewed using this method for a short while, it did a fantastic job and even brewed an award winning beer! I have since moved on to traditional 3 vessel AG brewing...

Fs [melb]: Co2 Cylinder And Cornies

Berwyck, I'll throw my hat in the ring. If ZABOND does not follow through with the purchase then I am interested in the CO2 cylinder. I take it that the cylinder is the 6.8Kg one? JS.

What are you brewing II ?

G'day Fourstar, Thanks for the vote of confidence! :P How do you use the rice? Do you use flaked rice or plain rice? I have given plain rice a go for this and just cooked the kilo up with a 1:2 rice to water ratio till nice and gluggy and added it to the mash. JS.

Style Of The Week 11/10/06 - Saison

Wow, great attenuation Jye! I had heard it was an active bugger of a yeast strain. What was your FG if you don't mind me asking? The fermenting fridge is tied up at the moment so I plan to just let this one run its own course in the Melbourne weather. It looks like low 20's for the next few...

    How Long Up The Kriek...?

Hi Kev, Great question. I'm probably not the best person to answer but... I would expect over the time we are talking that the fruit will break down to some degree, but perhaps not enough to add much volume. The fruit definately displaces the liquid somewhat, I do expect to lose some volume to...

    How Long Up The Kriek...?

Update. Picked up another 2 jars of Morello Cherries + 500g of fresh cherries for the hell of it. So all up it's 3 x 700g jars of Morello cherries and 500g of fresh fruit added to a 10L blend of two beers. Gonna be hard to replicate if it turns out to be great! :P I'll leave for minimum 3...

    How Long Up The Kriek...?

Thanks for the tips, I guess I'll have to pick up some more cherries! I was fearful that it might not be enough. They were Morello Cherries though. Perhaps another jar of those + some fresh fruit for the bugs. Then leave for 3-6 months. Kook, what do you think about also adding a little bit of...

    How Long Up The Kriek...?

Hi all, Yesterday was bottling time for the beer from two of my fermenters. My kegs are full, as is a cupboard full of longnecks, I only had enough empties to account for about 30 Litres of the 40 Litres I was to bottle. I decided to use this as an opportunity to try something new, a fruit...
