    Great British Beer Festival

Hi fellow brewers. We are off to the UK in August, and we just happen to be in London when the GBBF is on. (Aug 11th - 15th). I'm just wondering if anybody has been to one of these festivals before?? And if so, is it worth going along for a look. (I'm going to go anyway, but I'm keen on some...

    Case swap

Hi, is there any interest in another case swap this year. I'm happy to host one up here in Burnie if there is enough interest. Let me know what you think. Alternatively, I am happy to travel to launnie again if it gets off the ground up that way. If it happens, it would be good if there was a...

    IPA Hops question

Hi Fellow Brewers I am currently brewing an IPA to use up some hops that I have had for a while. My question is, and this is asked by a novice IPA brewer, Do Citra, Chinook and Willamette go together well for late hop addittions? Going to use El Dorado as the bittering hop. Cheers LB

    We drank these beers -

When we were in the UK and Paris. We stopped writing them down after 11 days as the list was getting a little long 1. Fullers London Pride - we drank a lot of this as it was everywhere and a pretty good easy drinking real ale 2. Meantime Pale Ale - The dearest beer we had in the UK 5.50...

    Enuff to make Bribie cry

Heres the first beer from the Beer Engine. A Brains SA clone. Its not exact, as I used Notto yeast in this one, but I just wanted to try the Engine out. First impressions were that ot was more like London Pride, and memories of being in "the old dart" a few weeks ago came flooding back. Anyway...

    Screw you guys, I'm

in Paris at the moment drinking a bottle of red with Mrs LB. We have spent the last 2 days in the UK, sampling a few different real ales. I can honestly say that I am definitely going to somehow purchase a beer engine. It adds a totally different dimension to a beer. Served warm ( cellar temp...

    Octoberfest

Hi blokes. Are we still thinking of doing this, and is Dantehicks still the venue. Need to sort out a brew if we are, as the window of opportunity for brewing from now until October is very small for me. In fact so small, I may have already brewed the beer today. Let us know whats going on...

    Beer Engine - how heavy

Just a question to all the Beer Engine owners out there. I am interested in how much a beer engine weighs. I am going to England later this year and if the weight is under 7kg, I may be able bring one home if I can find one cheap enough. Cheers LagerBomb

    Man Bags

Hi fellow brewers. Got a trip planned to England/France in September, and after some discussion with Mrs LagerBomb, we are considering a Man Bag. Now I am at an age where I know that they are socially acceptable, but to me they are just a little "not right". I can understand the reasons for...

New Pub NW Tassie - The Butter Factory Burnie

OK so Burnie doesnt have much in the way of Pubs to excite me in the way that Beer Deluxe or Mrs Parmas does. However, we recently have had a couple of new players in town. One being The Butter Factory Burnie. Now this place has been spruiking itself for a while as being a venue with 24 beers on...

    Hills Brewers Guild

OK I give up. What does this mean - some sort of conspriacy towards the black magic trickery from the NW.

    Brew Day Launceston Area

Hi blokes. Seeing as some of the Lonnie brewers can't seem to get a handle on the internet thingy, I have started a new topic for jlm, as he is too tied up trying to catch some fish, learn how to brew, abuse NW coasters about our brewing/internet trickery. So anyway here is his post jlm posted...

    Smack Pack - Slow Starting

Hi all. Had a brew day approx 2 weeks ago and had a smack pack of Wyeast 2258 Rasenmaher Lager to use. It had been in the fridge for about 4 months. I got it out the day before to let it warm up to room temp and smacked that night. Next day nothing so pitched with a different yeast. Brewed again...
