So i was wondering is it better to have a lower temp that bounces between 14 to 18 or a fairly consistent temperature about 20-22(it's a pale ale) ? Right now trying to control temp with ice packs and cold water in the bath and have a aquarium type heater to make sure it doesn't dip too low...

So my second batch of beer has just come to age and i am thinking of starting a new one. As i haven't tried brewing a dark beer yet thought it might be a good idea. I think i can do partial extract brews as i recently got a 19liter stock pot but i haven't tried it yet. So any ideas?
