Hops Rhizomes For Sale X 21 Varieties

Thanks Hyjak. Looks like the rules have changed recently. The last time I spoke with Tas Quarantine was a few years ago and it was simply a matter of filling in the notice of intent form and satisfying some other conditions. The conditions in the link above are similar to the conditions for...

Hops Rhizomes For Sale X 21 Varieties

You only need to do that to send to WA unless Tas have tightened their requirements. Just complete and send the notice of intent form http://www.dpiw.tas.gov.au/inter,nsf/Attac...YAA-8MX3ZZ?open Must be free of soil, pest and disease free, and they are a bit funny if you are in a potato cyst...

Chinook And Mt Hood Hops Rhizomes For Sale

I think you'll all discover it is a little more complicated and why I won't risk sending rhizomes across the nullarbor. Sure they might get there but if they are intercepted by WA quarantine then you risk a fine substantially larger than a speeding fine. They do scan postal items and open...

    Hop Rhizomes For Sale

Good to hear they are arriving ok. Not many cascades left now. I need to add that I cannot post rhizomes to overseas countries + WA.

Keeping Hops Alive When Not Home?

They won't survive long in pots without rain. If you can't use an automated watering system, I'd go with the wheelie bin full of water connected to some kind of gravity fed drip system. Worth a try - people keep another related plant species going with this sort of system for a whole summer. It...

    Id'ing Hop Flowers

Given they grew from seeds, the identity could only be confirmed if you knew what variety of male plant pollinated what female plant variety. DNA testing is probably your only option of an accurate determination. It could be some kind of wild cross too.

    2009 Hop Plantations

Columbus and chinook tend to be later shooting varieties, but once they go, they'll pass just about all other varieties in a matter of days or weeks. My chinooks have gone from nothing to 3m in 1-2 weeks and the columbus is only just starting to emerge.

    2009 Hop Plantations

Guys Spider mites don't cause leaf holes and defoliation like that! If you can't find the culprit during daylight hours, have a look at night as some of the possibles like earwigs and caterpillars might only feed at night. Slugs and snails will leave the characteristic trail behind. Some of...

    2009 Hop Plantations

The saaz I have is of Czech parentage as stated. I doubt you'll be able to get any of the NZ saaz variants or the new Aussie saaz varieties because of breeder rights, patents, grower agreements etc. Maybe in 10 or 20 years. I'd be curious to hear how people go with saaz. I've found it to be much...

    Herald Sun Tac Supercoach

The team coming 49th overall is storming home strong. And yes Bluddy Franklin has been there from round 1. I tossed up between him or leon davis! Alas the power of hindsight. I think Bluddy might actually score something decent this week. Yes do save your trades! They start going down like...

    2008 Hop Plantations

Agreed. I wouldn't fertilise anything until the heat subsides. Fertiliser is just going to make the plant work harder and want more water, and if the latter isn't there then you will find your plant isn't as well. I'd wait till the heat subsides say around end of this month or sometime in March...

    2008 Hop Plantations

I think there is a very good chance that the rhizomes will have survived and will shoot again. Rhizomes usually have a few dormant/developing buds ready to shoot if required. The likelihood of this is reduced if you have young/small plants but give it a chance and you might be surprised.

    Rs Looking Tomato Plants...

Looks like any of the different wilts could be the cause. Verticillium and Fusarium wilt are the most common. Not much you can do to stop it and the disease stays in the soil for years. Grafted tomatoes if grafted onto a more resistant and vigorous rootstock should do better, but they are...

    2008 Hop Plantations

A quickish reply to some queries above. They are lateral shoots forming - unlikely to be cones yet but they form off the laterals. Most ladybirds are beneficial by eating pests and some eat fungus. The common garden pest 26 and 28 spotted ladybirds are really the only plant ating ladybirds you...

    New Hop Leaf Die Off

Hops grow fine in hot direct sunlight, even when young. Mine have survived many 40+C days. They need to be well watered though. I wouldn't look to grow hops in a shaded location as a good permanent solution - they'll grow poorly. Hot water is a different story. I'm guessing that anything over...
