Active Users List. Is it accurate?

Hey guys. I've been noticing that there are usually only 5-6 people active at the bottom of AHB at any given time. Is this accurate? It seems there aren't any where near as many folks posting here anymore. Cheers.

How many litres did you brew in 2014?

As the title- post your brewing totals for 2014! I only managed 550L this year, (plus a couple of batches of cider) which is down quite a bit from last year. The missus seems to think that this is still far too much :)

    How to Post Beer Bottles

I read quite a bit about people wanting to know the best way to post beer across this great land. Well, this is how I've been doing it for a couple of years now, and it works great. These are for LRG- he gets two bottles as I'm a couple of months late with the Xmas in July. :P Take a piece of...

Zombie Apocalypse- What will you eat?

Let's all face it. The Zombie Apocalypse is going to happen at some stage and a human can't survive on spent-grain dog biscuits and left over pickled olives forever. I was feeding the cat tonight and couldn't help but notice the tin of Whiskas sardines and tuna loaf actually smelled like the...

FS Perth. Crown Seal Longnecks. $8 for 14. Clean.

Ok, I am helping out my Aunty and I offered to try and get rid of these for her. She has approximately 750 longnecks, all of which are in easily stack-able plastic crates. Most crates have 14 bottles, some have 13. She has asked for $10 per crate. They are all either Swan, Emu or CUB crown...

Meat Loaf in Caramelised Barbecue Sauce. This is so tasty.

Yeah, meatloaf can be boring as bat shit. This is from one of my Nan's cookbooks and it never fails to please. Sooo tasty. The sauce caramelises and forms a moreish sticky glaze over the meatloaf. You then pour the excess sauce over the meat once sliced. :icon_drool2: :icon_drool2: :icon_drool2...

2014 W.A. Xmas in July Case Swap.

Dent has again kindly offered his beer wonderland in Bellevue as a venue for the next case swap. As we know, locking in dates can be tricky so lets start the conversation for which weekend is suitable for everyone. Saturday 19th or 26th would be good starting points. Remember, all entries...

Yeast and Wort/Hop Combinations That Surprised

Part of the fun with this hobby is experimenting- the choices in beer styles are amazing and we sometimes bastardise styles with different hops, yeast and grain choices, and find little gems that just work. There is Tony's example of brewing a stout with saison yeast which many have tried...

2013 W.A. Xmas Case Swap Tasting Thread

Ok, we'll keep it simple. No need to quote a full list. I'll start- Dent- "Blame jyo Lager" I joked about an Emu Export clone and he fecking did it! This is actually a pretty clean, tasty lager! It has a nice, sweet underlying malt backbone. Great on a hot night, mate. Cheers.

    Awesome Photography

I would love to get into photography and have been playing around with a good camera lately, but these pics are truly amazing. Some are taken using High Dynamic Range Imaging (which I had no idea about until recently :) ) and they are stunning. I know there are some photography threads around...

    2013 W.A. Xmas Case Swap

Was having a chat with dent and Nev this afternoon over some carrot ale and the case swap (or lack of) came up. Just looking at gauging the interest here. A possible venue is at dent's house or mine if my good wife agrees...the former option would be preferred! We were thinking that 15...

Carrot Ale. Mashing with caramelised carrots.

I've been thinking about something like this for months. I have Googled lots, and people have been mainly fermenting carrot juice. Doesn't really appeal to me. I aim to slice them and roast them in the oven until browned and caramelised, then mash/blend and add straight to the mash. 15% is a...

Kilkenny Tap Fs Perth. False Bottom Free.

I bought this a few years ago and but lost interest pretty quickly when I couldn't fit it to my fridge (suited for a tower AFAIK) as the handle pulls back in the opposite direction. I think it's an Andale...I have never had it hooked up. Missing an o ring on the snap lock fitting. Minor...

    New Mash Tun!

A mate of mine who is a sheet metal worker and industrial lagger was eyeing off my esky mash tun a while ago and asking why the mash needed to be insulated... After a brief description of the mashing process, he took a look at a keg (kindly manicured by spoonta off AHB) I had lying around which...
