    Crown 40 Litre Water Urn

Sorry I apologise for my statement: "Maybe I've got a 1500W element installed by mistake (like the 10L crown has)??? " Irresponsible of me to say that as there is nothing to indicate that is the case.

    Crown 40 Litre Water Urn

Hi, Just used a brand new crown 40L urn with an exposed element to do BIAB for the first time (previously 3V with gas fired kettle). During the boil with the dial set to 110C (30L wort initially) the element was on all the time (I watched it like a hawk, so I know the boil dry didnt activate...

    Keg Cleaners

Hey Guys, After it blows dry I leave the keg pressurised until ready to re-use - i.e remains a closed system. Then on the day I rinse with water to remove solids, then fill with a 2L solution of caustic soda (granulated form from your favourite hardware store, dosage according to directions)...

    Experience With Wyeast 1968

Warra48, Recently used this yeast and noticed much the same as you during fermentation. It slowly continued to work after visible signs of fermentation had finished at 4 days (top of wort clears, hydro sample bright), it was about 1016 and I wanted a few more points so let it sit for about 5...

Anyone Used Marris Otter In A Lager?

Hi, I have run out of weyermann pils, but have enough marris otter pale ale malt to see me through to making ales in the summer, so it would make sense to use the marris now as its nearly a year old. Dont mind a bit of malt in my lagers and doesnt have to be ultra pale either. I cant see it...

Ok thanks, I think I will cellar it having tried it a few times before. Especially now its got a new friend, a Murrays anniversary ale, 750ml with a wire top, 10% barleywine. That one will definately be shared as its 5.9 std drinks! The label claims it can be kept for 10 years, but I dont think...

Chimay Blue - Cellar Or Scoff

Hi , I've just been given a bottle of chimay blue and a few other strong belgians for my birthday. The chimay has a date of 2011 - what would you do - drink it now or cellar it for 6 months or more...? Could you control yourself? 2011 makes me think its relatively fresh so I'm thinking a bit...

    Crankandstein Pics

Hi Guys, How do the crankandstein's get on with crushing by hand, is it feasible for an average 4-5kg grain bill (i.e < 10mins) or do you really need to motorise them? I'm using an old corona at the moment and it seems to take forever sometimes. cheers.
