How about safale US56 for a nice clean ale yeast? Should be superior to the kit yeast and I think it would go well with your kit. For a real improvement you should consider getting some hops from your HBS while you're at it.

I've been working through my "archive" and just tried a lager I made last winter. It lived through a fierce Tumut summer in my kitchen cupboard and still tastes exactly as I remembered. I guess a sample size of 1 is not statistically significant but that's all I had left. :chug:

Hi c0z, after a bit of googling it seems that temps above 50 C will kill yeast very rapidly. Afterall they do like similar temperatures to us and I don't think you'd be to happy getting chucked in a bath at 70 degrees! :o I'd get another pack and pitch it asap.

Anyone else tried this yet? A mate got some on a trip to Perisher and I think it's pretty good (certainly better than bluetongue!). I just wish they'd sell it on this side of the mountains, afterall most of the "pristine waters of the Snowy River" flows though the Tumut River.
