    Wyeast Problems

FWIW I agree with haysie, when I'm doing lagers I only ever buy the older smack packs (cos they're cheaper :P ). I give the pack a couple of hours after I've smacked it then even if it hasn't blown up chuck it in a 1.5L starter. They usually take a couple of days to kick off, then they're good...

    Kit And Extract Beer Spreadsheet

Just downloaded a trial of Beersmith and the values for corn syrup were 78.3% yield and a potential SG of 1.036. Not exactly sure what these figures mean but does that help? Was reading another forum re adding lactose to stouts and they seemed to think that its best done at kegging...

    Kit And Extract Beer Spreadsheet

    First Brew

Hi guys, well I got my first brew down last night and everything went really well. One of the guys at work managed to convince me too buy some proper yeast, so I stopped in at the HBS to get some Safale US 05 (you were onto that too eh Jase! He reckons it helps with flavour big time? :) ) I did...

    First Brew

Hi guys, I've been reading this forum for some time now and think I'm ready to put my first brew down this weekend. I'm keeping it simple for the first one, its a K&K of draft beer. I'm going to use the yeast provided but my question is do you have to re-hydrate the yeast or can you just...
