IPA stuck at 1.020, to repitch or go with it?

I used 72 strike water as the recipe suggested, then checked the temp once all the grain was mashed in and it was at around 67-68 when i closed the lid and wrapped the urn up

IPA stuck at 1.020, to repitch or go with it?

How much would a 3rd packet of yeast affect the final flavours and such? Or is that a "how long is a piece of string" sort of question? haha

IPA stuck at 1.020, to repitch or go with it?

Thanks for the replies so far! So mash temp was highish? The recipe called for 66-67 degree water which I thought I was pretty spot on or have I missed something?

IPA stuck at 1.020, to repitch or go with it?

I was actually going to suggest this at the start. What if I siphone out some of my wort into a sanitised pyrex container or something and drop some yeast in it, then see if the SG drops in that? Or I guess see if the yeast start some activity?

IPA stuck at 1.020, to repitch or go with it?

Currently only have a hydrometer, but I have made sure it reads true in water, and always check wort temperature before measuring gravity.

IPA stuck at 1.020, to repitch or go with it?

Thanks for the reply mate! My mash temp was around the 67-68 mark after the grains hit the strike water. dropped to about 65 over the hour. I used two packets of the Liberty Bell yeast (dry) from the mangrove jacks craft series. I rehydrated them in 200ml of sanitised water and pitched it into...

IPA stuck at 1.020, to repitch or go with it?

Hey all! So as the title says, my IPA's fermentation seems to have plateaued out at 1.020 for the past couple of days and I'm wondering if I should repitch some more rehydrated yeast or just go with it and start dry hopping? My OG was 1.068 so It's still going to have plenty of punch around the...

    Urn problems, first BIAB attempt!

Quick update! Everything went great this time! Mashed in and hit 67 on the nose! Dropped to about 65 over the hour, I had a blanket and mat wrapped around it with an old cooler bag over the top of it. Might upgrade the lagging for next time, but I think 2 degrees over an hour isn't the end of...

    Urn problems, first BIAB attempt!

Ok so I've given the element cover a good scrub and its come clean. Ive put about 5 litres of water in there now and I've gotten that to boil. Im thinking i might give it one more try in this urn but use something to seperate the grain bag from the element this time?

    Urn problems, first BIAB attempt!

Yep concealed element. I've racked all the wort to a cube now and theres a black crust all over the middle of the bottom of the urn. Should I have sat the grain bag on a colander or something? I was told that with a concealed element you didn't need to. Have I ruined my new urn? haha :(

    Urn problems, first BIAB attempt!

Yeah I've just sent them a message via Ebay to see what's up. I left the wort in the urn and wrapped the whole top with glad wrap to seal it. Can I still use the wort? It's sat outside overnight sealed.

    Urn problems, first BIAB attempt!

Hey guys new to the forum and also new to BIAB. I purchased a 30L urn off eBay from a home brewing supplier. First of all the urn had a reasonably sized dent in it when it arrived, which I wasn't super happy about. I contacted the seller and ended up getting a $30 refund which is fine. So...
