    Using Ice To Chill Wort

Hey Symph75, I know someone who used this several years ago with the desired effect - direct cooling. You might would want to boil the water before you freeze it though - thawing unclean water in your post-boil wort could potentially result in infection.

    Oban Distillary

A beautiful part of the world - could live there. Rented a cottage for a couple of weeks over Christmas in Dalmally (30min drive inland) several years ago. The Oban Distillery was v interesting - and Oban generally is a great spot.

First Ag - Wit. Advice Plz

I wouldn't bother with the whirfloc - there doesn't seem to be much point in trying for a clear wit. Also, I'm not sure how BIABs go, but for a traditional mash, I'd be droppping in a few good handfulls of rice hulls. Good luck with it. Wits and wheats are very forgiving and you should end up...

Dry Hopped Rogers This Friday At Fremantle Lc

Hey Pete - sounds like we were at a different brewery ! :D I really like Rogers as a drink (its my usual choice if I'm in polite company...) but I was just underwhelmed. There might have been a touch more bitterness from the topaz, but only just. to my taste anyway. But I wouldn't have...

Dry Hopped Rogers This Friday At Fremantle Lc

Yep - it was pretty funny watching them trying to get a pint out of the second keg too ! In terms of flavour, I had a half of straight Rogers and a half of the Topaz together and while there was a subtle difference in flavour, after the first few sips there was really nothing in it. The same...

    Sandgroper 2009 Case Tasting Notes

Guest Lurker, Dodgers, 3.5%, filled from keg, oxidizing as you read this, drink as soon as you can. WW: following GL's advice, this was first to go. Poured with a brilliant head, great clarity. Some honey, toasty notes on the nose and a smooth, rounded malt character on the pallete. Mine did...

    Wa - Brew-on-premises - All/partial Grain

Hey Groover1964 and wlecome - its always good to se more people from the left bank. As habits go, your wife has a pretty good one - there's not a lot wrong with Chimay (other than the cost). While it is worth ringing aroung, I don't think you will have much joy with the u-brew-it type places...
