    Braumeister NEXTGEN Build

Rubbish. This resistor is between the 5V terminal and the data line. No other resistors in the circuit. The resistor is a pull up resistor. The 1-wire devices operate the data line in a open-collector/ open-drain manner. That is they cannot pull the data line up to logic high. That is what the...

Yes you can put it in the screw terminals. But the datasheet says 4.7K for the pullup, where did 1.5K come from?

Keggerator Upgrade - Beer Level Indicator

Some people waste all their time playing golf ;) The winters are long here. And I've been working on this project for over a year now. But expect a new all stainless brewbot by the northern hemiphere summer.

Great stuff mate. I did the Siebels 24 taint kit a while back with a bunch of local home brewers. Lots of interesting smells. Well worth the money. I get Cooked Corn / veges out of DMS. Don't forget to smell your own skin between taints to reset your senses a bit. As for the current beer...

    Long Term Beer Storage

A couple of years ago we fermented a couple of IPAs at the end of summer. A bit of a warm snap and no fermentation fridge meant they fermented warm, with a crappy muntons yeast (don't ask). We dry hopped in secondary and kegged. As expected, lots of peppery yeast harshness and fruity off...

    The Beerbug - Digital Hydrometer

Interesting idea. What sort of sensor is involved in measuring SG?

Cool, some others are interested in these so I'm putting together a Ubuntu VirtualBox image with the toolchain installed and setup, a simple FreeRTOS example project with touch and LCD drivers working and an easy to use menu framework. Might not be quite a simple as arduino but should be easy...

Good stuff. Stone is pretty impressive - who was driving afterwards? :) No sleep on the long haul flight? Too excited? Do the west coast IPA's taste better when you're on the west coast?

Just saw this which could be a pretty cool drop-in upgrade for the old 16x2. http://dangerousprototypes.com/2012/10/15/...ober-15th-2012/ Another interesting non-arduino option for control: http://squonk42.github.com/TL-WR703N/ ~$22 on ebay. Runs linux. 32MB ram. Has USB,wifi,ethernet,UART...

    Sierra Navada Here We Come

I was talking to a couple at one of our local breweries the other night. They showed up to go to GABF last year. Didn't know they had to have tickets. Out the front there were a bunch of scalpers. But one of the vendors noticed them contemplating what to do and offered them some tickets for...

You guys are going to have a blast. Try out some cheeses too. Even the supermarkets can have some interesting stuff. I'm partial to the spicy cheeses. Pepperjacks with green chilli. Keep your eye out for a wholefoods. Stay away from the bacon. I big disappointment compared to Aussie bacon...

Looks a lot like the LCD I used in the orginal brewbot. But the i2c will be a win. Look at the ribbon cable I had to use to run that LCD:

I know you just want to big-note yourself in this thread, and you're probably deliberately missing the point, but if you are using a 16x2 LCD to display text you are probably using strings. Like this: https://github.com/mathoaus/braumiser-contr...duino2.pde#L368 or this...

Exactly. So what do see taking up extra space on the Arduino? ezLCD has a text based command protocol. Load your images an fonts into it's flash using a PC and issue a few characters from the Arduino to get them to display. Doing that would probably take up less space than the 16x2 LCD driver...
