So... I got an email about this being in stock, but if I go to the website it's not available until tomorrow... Have I missed it or will I get another email tomorrow?

I have never had an issue like you describe with US-05 over-attenuating - it's the most consistent yeast I've used and I stick to it for anything needing a clean neutral flavour. I wonder if you might have a calibration issue somewhere with volume or grain weights; or a process issue with...

    Pliny The Elder Recipe

Your hops look right but I think you're going to to have a much sweeter beer than Pliny with that malt bill and high FG. Dextrose and carapils would help dry it out.

    Pliny The Elder Recipe

Palate Wrecker is a great beer. Green Flash Hop Head Red was the first beer I bought in the US and the palate awakening I had was the start of a very slippery slope to find every GF beer on tap and in the fridge. I was lucky enough to go back to San Diego a few years later and discovered the...

    Cube questions

If you are having issues going over gravity, you can try diluting (on brew day or at pitch time). On brew day you can then run off enough to collect wort for starters; and at pitch time you can get a larger batch size for your efforts.

    Pliny The Elder Recipe

Pliny the elder (and younger) are remarkable beers, but a lot of their allure is due to their story and cult followings. I think they are fantastic, but in the years since I had them the number of 5 star IPAs available has increased a hundredfold. So while Pliny is a classic NW IIPA, like...

Once again, for those of us who work full time it would be great to be able to pre-order things like this... especially when the "back in stock" email isn't sent until after they've sold out already...

    50L keg storage

If you want your beer to last, treat it like milk - store it cold and consume it quickly. Beer stored warm will stale faster, and if it's a delicate beer (like an IPA) then we're talking about a shelf life of weeks or less. If you're doing a pressure transfer while cold then the pressure you...

Thanks, sounds like a winner for me. Do you think a 2L carbonation reactor would provide enough of a supply for average usage? We go through 3+L of soda water a day in this house, and would easily do 10 between us in the office.

1 of the 9.5L corny kegs is fine by me. As per my question above, will it fit a corny with your carbonator lid?

Similar to you I've put 15 & 20A points in my last 2 places; the first one was under $200 for a 30cm run off the switchboard during a major reno, and at this one it was part of a few grand of work we were getting done - I now have 2 dedicated circuits for the brewery. The house already had a 3...

    KegLand Questions and Answers

I'm never going to buy a plastic fermenter, but if I did I'd be incredulous to say the least with this suggestion. Levering plastic fittings like that is inviting trouble. The obvious solution here seems to be either manufacturing the lid with a proper reinforced lug/channel to use a long...

    Ferment in a Kettle (FIAK)

Quite simply hot break is left in the kettle by selectively drawing the liquid wort from the vessel and leaving the trub behind. This is AG brewing 101. Taps in kettles are very rarely level with the bottom so there is always some loss, potentially reduced by an attachment to lower the draw...

    A nod to Crankshaft

Sorry if you think this is telling you to suck eggs, but if your aroma is disappearing you almost certainly have an oxidation problem. Even if you have done a closed loop transfer into a well-purged keg then you can pick up oxygen; and there are other steps earlier in the process that can...

    KegLand Questions and Answers

100x this suggestion. A bottom-draining vessel, that has a drop-in riser (could have a screen too I guess) for the purpose of keeping the pump draw above the trub would be fantastic. I'd upgrade from my RB/BZ65 in a heartbeat if there was a bottom-draining vessel that could be CIP. The...

Thanks for the answer. Someone else pointed it out to me and it seemed like an oddity in modern ecommerce. Maybe it is worth you making more of the fact you don't charge fees for credit cards, as it may not be obvious to people accustomed to paying by paypal.

Agree that a modular power plug is a great idea. I like the sound of a removable, PID-based controller too. I never use any of the features on my BZ other than setting temperature - but would use a remotely monitored and controlled device. Will the controller be available to retrofit to the...

    I can't bleach it's not StarSan

Yep, anyone advocating bleach is simply ignorant to the facts that bleach is damaging/contaminating to brewing equipment, less effective and likely more expensive. It is also incredibly damaging to the environment. But I guess that also doesn't matter to some people.
