James May's new old pub (video tour)

That was quite a good little video, but it makes me sad that I can't visit a pub for probably the next few months. 10 people per pub? They will be booked out til christmas next year!

Advice needed for simple all-grain recipe

Nicely done mate. Rather over shoot the under generally in general.

New to kegging - question about gas leaks

Hey mate. Not sure why they would recommend against starsan... detergent is not something you want anywhere near beer or beer glasses, as it will destroy the head very fast. Getting detergent into the quick disconnects will allow it into the beer which will cause head issues etc. I always...

New to kegging - question about gas leaks

Hey mate. Not to be rude but that's not a great taste. Ramping the pressure will often seal a leak that may be present at serving pressures. The key leak spots I find are the posts on the kegs and the disconnects. The best way is to get a bucket of water and dip things into it at around...

    Sickly sweet taste after kegging

Hmmmm. Interesting. Someone with more experience hopefully chimes in with perhaps what exactly is causing it, but if FG is hit I'm thinking an infection as opposed to under attenuating.

    Sickly sweet taste after kegging

Hmmmm. Perhaps there is something living in the fermenter. You say as soon as carbed. Same as kegs? Or does it take a week or two? Once it peaks, does it go away after a while or persist even after conditioning for weeks or months? Do you take the tap apart, unscrewed from the fermenter and...

    Sickly sweet taste after kegging

Just re read and saw its bottles too. It could be from a soap residue depending on what you wash with, or an infected transfer tube or fermenter?

    Sickly sweet taste after kegging

What do you wash your kegs with? How long after kegging does the flavour develop? What do you use to sanitise? Do you take your kegs apart and thoroughly clean out the posts, threads, gaskets etc? Have you replaced all the orings etc on the kegs? Have you checked all disconnects including...

I'm already operating at my highest level and it's usually below average. I'm gonna struggle then! :P

Advice needed for simple all-grain recipe

I still learn heaps too mate, always happy to help out. And remember, you don't have to follow all advice, work with what suits you. Don't forget you're brewing for yourself! MHBs suggestion is a good one to get adequate bitterness. And even on my SMASH beers I use magnum to butter so they are...

my fermentation with the 1st use of a tilt hydrometer

Agree with huez. My tilt was like $19 and a cover cost like $4. You do need an SD card which was like $5 so probably sub $30 and it's easy peasy!

    Improve my Slow Cooked Brisket

Oh man, more than that too. It turned Smoking something from a special thing, to "I wonder what this is like smoked" cause its ready in 15 minutes and turns off just as fast. We do smoked dinners all the time. Get home 4:30, smoker on and whack a chook in. It's brilliant.

Advice needed for simple all-grain recipe

Hey mate. Beersmith 3 I used for a while but zi have since gone to Brewfather and really enjoy it. You can put the Coopers malt in as Australian Ale malt (I believe coopers is a schooner type malt similar to Votager malts) I would set up for roughly 60% brew house efficiency and aim for 4.5%...
