The Brauduino (Matho’s Controller) Build/Advice/Question Thread

Hi Swiss, You may need to run through set up on ArdBir still? It sounds like the initial config hasn't been changed. - eg: changing heat to electric from gas should solve your heat LED issue. The temp probe issue is weird. What is it reading?

    Let's Freeze Some Yeast

No link. Masters are in a fire sale. There weren't any left up here when I last went in. They are the small size of the 'really useful box'. I got two and wish I got more.

What skinless bulkhead fittings are you using there?

    Matho's controller

Take a look at PeteQ's post on the craftbeerpi thread. All you need is an adapter from arduino to RPI. Of course the LCD won't work or the buttons, and you may need to modify the pin out on the pi code. Pete mentioned the pump took some time to switch, but apart from that appears to work well...

    Let's Freeze Some Yeast

I've been looking for a box to store the 50ml vials in for a while. Just found the 3L 'Really useful Box'es at Masters are the perfect height both for the vials and my freezer drawers. Hold appx 23 vials with 3 sitting up a little. $10 with 30% off = $7per box.

    Glycerine bulk buy - newy

It looks like you've done this before, but just be aware that Kg does not equal L. I got caught on this. I think it is something like 1.26/1.3Kg per L.

Pasteurisation - Stopping fermentation in cider

I've done bottle pasteurising by boiling. Can confirm that the result tastes bad for a while. Like hot apple solvent for at least a week. Then like apple sauce for a month? Tastes awesome again after a couple of months. I've had some bottles bust. Super scary. I would only recommend using...

    220L Oak Barrel - Sydney

A friend just picked up a couple of 220L barrels with some friends in the Hunter Valley. Were wine barrels, shaved and have had Brandy in them for the last eight months. We're keeping one and have one to sell. $300. Pickup Castle Hill. Quite new barrels and very nice looking if Wanted for...

    Hosehead brew controllers

Just a note - those powercons are not IP rated and have potential to allow water/liquid into the power socket. I haven't looked at the device, so they may have changed to a different version since the video was made.

The Brauduino (Matho’s Controller) Buy thread

Hi Oliver, Kind of. The big question is how many kilowatts of heat you will put into the 200L? That will determine how fast or slow it heats. How many elements? What voltage per line? There are ways to increase the heating outputs if needed. Have you calculated your mash schedules? Eg: Mine...

The Brauduino (Matho’s Controller) Buy thread

Mike's actually right. I think the board can probably drive up to around 4/6 SSRs off the heater port depending on the power needs of the SSR to switch. Of course, you would need to cut a custom box to suit. 200L should be possible on 40A@240(though very slow and I wouldn't want to do it). 500L...

The Brauduino (Matho’s Controller) Build/Advice/Question Thread

Yeah, my builds were painful for the hip pocket. The first time I decided to drill the holes in the plate... A sore arm, three afternoons and something like 500 holes later I decided that was stupid. :) Whereabouts are you located? edit: do you have the new fluted rollers? I've got the knurled...

The Brauduino (Matho’s Controller) Build/Advice/Question Thread

I just had another look at your rig. It doesn't look like you've got any where near enough open space to let water permeate through the entire grain bed and back out easily - I would be replacing the plates with perf stainless if possible - just as a piece of advice from my experience - the...

The Brauduino (Matho’s Controller) Build/Advice/Question Thread

Hi Clayton, As long as you have sufficient wort movement you should find that your temperatures will be accurate. If you heat with only water in the pot, without any movement you will find you might get temperature stratification. Simply splashing the water around will show you roughly how much...
