Coldside exposure to o2 is the primary reason I've found for lacking hop aroma. Both the hops themselves being fresh and properly packaged, through to the cold-side process and purposeful exclusion of oxygen. The reason your beer has darkened is also most likely an o2 issue.

I keep starsan for months, I've usually got a whole keg of it sitting around. Always check pH before using (as grott mentioned a pH of 1-3 is acceptable). If tends to keep for longer if you filter your water.

I have holding solution (potassium metabisulphate and citric acid) in them... but it has evaporated a lot... checked them just now and they are only 1/2 full...

TBH I'm holding off splitting as it's gonna make getting rid of the rest heaps harder... I also don't really know what it's worth by itself as you can't buy them complete like this any more.
