    Diagnosing gas leaks

Ah sorry should have been clearer - the low pressure side to the kegs is set to 14 psi. The high pressure side is the pressure straight off the brand new gas bottle - around 55 bar. My understanding is that when you close off the bottle, if there is a leak, the residual CO2 on the high pressure...

    Diagnosing gas leaks

Just sense checking myself here more than anything. I've had my keg system go through a couple gas bottles in quick succession. I did carbonate and serve circa 11 19 litre cornys across the two bottles but my understanding is that isn't enough to go through two of them (2.8kg bottle). I've done...

    What are you brewing 2024

Next to the Keezer feeding into the 5 way manifold on the outside. Might look into the detector...

    What are you brewing 2024

I do the same when I am not carbonating - both times it happened after I added fresh kegs and hooked them up to carbonate. I would have thought I'd be able to hear it a well, and I could have sworn I checked the duotight connections - but in the morning on both occasions a gentle pull actually...

    What are you brewing 2024

Just had a go at a Belgian Blonde recipe that got a lot of good reviews and is sold as a Leffe clone in the UK. I think the yeast (t-58) actually isn't a legit Belgian yeast from reading up on it, but it seems ok. Is one of the first times that I have seen a big change in flavour once primary...

    Frustrating under-carbonation issue with keezer

Just a quick update after the party over the weekend. Thanks for all the advice in this thread - got there in the end and the beer was a big hit. Have about 2L left over from the 130L that was served, now to fill some kegs with beer again!

    Brewing lager all year round.

I will third the recommendation to use US-05. I have made dark lagers, cream ales and kellerbiers with a very clean profile at higher temps (18-22C). If you leave them cold to settle and clear they come out nice and crisp from the bottle.

    Frustrating under-carbonation issue with keezer

Just tried this and feels like the first time I have made progress so far. Best results by far, still not equal to my bottles at supposedly the same g/L C02 but after 5 minutes in the glass more carbonated than my initial pours yesterday and still drinkable after 10 minutes so feel happy as a...

    Frustrating under-carbonation issue with keezer

Adding an update. I don't think I have this sorted. After a few more weeks in 15 psi, I did some testing this weekend, and with 5ft lines I got a lot of foam and beers that are flat. Thought maybe a bit over carbed, so added a longer 9ft line of 4mm Eva barrier to one of the taps and this...

    SS fermenter upgrade

I second this recommendation - temperature control with your current fermenter will make more of a difference than a stainless or other fermenter without it.

    Frustrating under-carbonation issue with keezer

Update: After an additional week at 16 PSI set on the regulator so 14 in the Keg headspace, the carbonation is much better. Still not what it says it should be according to the tables, so I have upped it one more psi to 17 on the reg and will see how it goes in a week's time. Thanks for all the...

    What are you brewing 2024

Second the recommendation to try some dark lagers, one of the repeat beers I make as I like them and they are hard to find. I found a kellerbier recipe that is similar to the Young Henry's natural lager and the Stone&Wood coastal lager and this is the first non dark lager that I have been...

    Frustrating under-carbonation issue with keezer

Thanks for the post. In terms of the fill - it's below the level of the gas in post, so before the curve in the keg starts and hopefully the surface area isn't much of a factor. Though the time it takes for beer to carb/stabilise seem out of line with other people so maybe it is a bit high and...

    Frustrating under-carbonation issue with keezer

Definitely - I've bumped it up 2 PSI for now - will try again next weekend and go up in 1 psi increments from there if required. Everything I've read agrees with you re: overcarbed beer being a hassle - so I have been hesitant to crank up the pressure till I understood what is happening...

    Frustrating under-carbonation issue with keezer

Thanks for the suggestions here - I tried both the methods you suggest for leak checking and pressure was maintained in both cases. Interesting - do you have a keezer or kegerator? Your line length is a bit closer to what the original setup was for this Keezer. I'm not getting very foamy pours...

    Frustrating under-carbonation issue with keezer

This is what I had landed on as well but wanted to confirm I wasn't missing something. It does appear that I was missing the pressure drop across the check valve, though as mentioned in one of the other replies the beer isn't the same as bottle conditioned beer at 5 g/L C02 that I would expect...

    Frustrating under-carbonation issue with keezer

I'm definitely going to take this approach. The check valves do play a role, but beer seems less carbed than it should be even taking this into account.

    Frustrating under-carbonation issue with keezer

Thanks for the reply. 1. I've left the system as one of the other posters suggested with the C02 bottle closed and the lines under pressure for a few days, without any drop in pressure being registered on the gauge - stayed bang on the 12 psi it was set to the whole time. Plus it's been...

    Frustrating under-carbonation issue with keezer

Hi All, I bought a keezer setup a couple months ago and have been having issues with low carbonation of the beer at the tap. The Keezer has 5 taps, a 5 way gas manifold and an external C02 bottle. The lines to the taps are EVA barrier 4mm ID (8,, OD) to nukataps. I've read a bunch about...
