    Tom Clancy's .. Jack Ryan

New series out from Amazon Prime and it's a ripper. I read the books in the 80's Saw Harrison Ford play the part in the 90's But his one is great viewing. 8 Episodes in series one filmed across the planet. Tis on torrent or Amazon Prime. I love them spy shows.

    Ramp time to mash temp

My favourite Pilsner recipe uses a step mash. 20 min 52.0 C 30 min 63.0 C 30 min 72.0 C My 3V herms setup takes longer to move the mash 10C the higher the temp. So moving from 63 to 72 can take 20 minutes. I'm guessing I'm just converting everything. It normally comes out the keg very drinkable...

Beer pouring out of gas keg post

Burp the keg. It is too full and has a higher pressure than the gas line.

    Stainless Steel work Gold Coast

A hole punch will give a clean hole but they'll only cut up to a certain thickness. I think that ebay one says 2mm for stainless. Just keep that in mind.

    Stainless Steel work Gold Coast

I'm guessing you don't want to do it yourself. A hole punch will make a bur free hole. You can buy a 17mm for under $50. Seems an odd size. I would have thought 20mm.

    No chill cubes

I've never bought cubes as such. I've bought fresh worts from home brew shops and reused their cubes. So I have a **** load of 16L cubes. I concentrate the beer in beersmith and double batch into cubes. Or single batch through a chiller into fermentor depending on the beer. Never given a thought...

    Refractometer

I bought a $15 one off eBay from honkers and it works fine. Mine only shows Brix but if measuring fermenting wort you have to apply a correction factor if there's alcohol in the wort anyway. I use the refractometer tool in Beersmith and once calibrated to suit my refractometer it is close enough...

Lazy Yak - has anyone managed a good imitation?

I misread that recipe. It's 50g each of Cascade and Galaxy steep/whirlpool for 10 minutes. No hops in the boil at all.50g Melba dry hopped. And this was the grain bill for a 24L batch.: 4.00 kg Pale Malt (2 Row) UK (5.9 EBC) Grain 1 66.1 % 1.80 kg Wheat Malt, Ger (3.9 EBC) Grain 2 29.7 % 0.25...

    Refractometer

I'm getting some work done on my pool next week. The pool guy told me my refractometer can measure the salt concentration in the pool. Still searching for details on that one but it looks like .77 to 1.03 Brix is correct for a salt pool. A tool of many talents by the looks.

    Storage of Ro water

The filters produce a lot of waste water, about 75% is waste. I just pipe it to the lawn. The float valve stops the drum from overflowing in the garage when the water is on and it's filtering.

    Electric brew pot controller

But what temp will you set it to? You want a continuous vigourous boil. It can't get any hotter than a boil.

    Electric brew pot controller

You won't need a controller. Try boiling water and you'll see.

Lazy Yak - has anyone managed a good imitation?

There's also a Wild Yak. It's a Pacific Ale. It's about 4.2% and 18IBU. There is a clone recipe for that on Beersmith. That one is 5.6% and 18IBU so it's not balanced the same as the original. For a dinner beer, the original isn't that bad. A bit tutti frutti. Be good with fish. 50g each of...

How can I maintain fermentation temp?

I ferment in a dual 30L fermentor upright freezer. A fan alone doesn't do it for me. I plug a hair dryer set on low to the heat side of the inkbird. DaDaah. 18C

    Keg King Plate chiller

Correction, it's a Mark III chiller not a Mrk 2.

So what your trying to say is that dilution maintains the bitterness ratio. Reducing the grain/hops component will also do the same thing.

    Keg King Plate chiller

Not being used here so maybe you can. It's a Mrk 2 keg king plate chiller. I think it's 30 plate. $65 + post. Carindale Brisbane.

To drop it 25%, add 25% more water. Use the extra to make a stater for the next one

    New Boil Pot for me

I didn't want to pay for a sparky to install a 32 amp circuit so max element is 2400Watts. That keg king element is supposed to be 2200Watts and I need the lid on the pot (but ajar) to get a rolling boil. No controller, I manage the boil by adjusting the gap between the lid and the pot. It has...
