    2 questions with kegging

I'd stick with the 5mm max. The bigger the beer line just means the more you need to slow the beer down before it hits the tap. I personally go with 4mm line. You have to stick it in boiling water to get it onto the fitting but use less line.

    Kegging k&k

On the money with 2-4 week maturing in the keg. It will taste a bit green straight out of the fermenter. However I recall being given the same advise when I kegged my 1st beer. I didnt take it and carbed it up in a rapid 2 mins and poured one out. It was cloudy and pretty green. But I still...

    Kegging k&k

I would say temp regulated fermentation is a clear winner. You can have a great bottle conditioned beer is the fermentation is controlled perfectly. As you would have a really horrible beer that is kegged and fermented two hot or to irregular so the yeasties are not happy.

    Grainfather vs RIMS build

Nah I got a 100l 3V system. The grain fathers we got in at work kept leaking. Gen 2 is much better they had upgraded a number of components hence the price rise.

    Forgot to flush plate chiller

Defiantly I think they are great. I have a 30 plate chiller. The only reason was I didn't like there being such a large opening for wild yeast to land on my cold fresh wort once it was cooled.

    Grainfather vs RIMS build

I hope it's gen two. Gen one pisses like a sieve. Wouldn't like to be the bloke to send it back to the UK for repairs.

    Forgot to flush plate chiller

I don't like baking it. I think it will promote a blockage. I do exactly the same as Adrian and never had an issue.

Your on the money it's great for a stout. I use about 1% with marris otter and light crystal to make a Irish red. Can also throw a bit in any English ale to give it a bit more of a winter feel.
