changing boil volume while hcf is off makes no diff at all. whith hcf on and changing boil volume to 10(even though i only do 4l boils) seems to look closer to what ibu's should be at(31)

still dont know what im doing wrong in ianh's spreadsheet. i put in everything as the recipe requires, 5l boil, hcf on and it comes up at 26.6 ibu. thats assuming that cent are 9.7% which is what the ones brewcraft sell are

im no expert but im sure they mean rolling boil. its what i do for my hop additions, and for any specific grain i use i steep at 70ish

go for maybe a toucan of coopers aussie pale and 2kg BE#2, that gives about 7.8% for a 23l brew. if u fear it will be too bitter sub one can of pale for a can of LME pale

im not sure i follow. when i put all the info into the spreadsheet at a 10l boil it comes up at 77.4 the pale tin contributes 18.5 of this and the ipa tin contributes 38.6

more FANTASTIC luck. my replacement lid/airlock has a leak somewhere so i had to sanitise the one that was cracked and throw it on hoping that it still seals. was some nice activity on top so im not too worried about the 1.5seconds it went withought a lid while i swapped them over. and waddaya...
