    Efficiency frustration

agree with doon 8kg grain @ 2.5L/kg is @ 20L strike water. Say 8L absorption leaves 12L first runnings. You sparged with 30L = 42L preboil.

    Efficiency frustration

If you're milling your own, I've found running it through twice at @ 1.1mm with a pre-wetting helped nudge my effeciency up a bit. I'm running a RIMS so it's a balance between getting stuck and effeciency. I also get a consistent 2-3% drop in effeciency with Maris Otter for some reason. With the...

Formaldehyde is the smell of anatomy, nothing quite like it. The 2 guys who worked in the anatomy building at UQ were the 2 freakiest looking people I've ever seen. Hard to tell if it was the work or the formaldehyde that made em that way.

    Rugby World Cup

Much better outing, Pocock makes a big impact to the side, excellant game, and Fardy played very well too. Slipper probably hard done by in a couple of those scrums with his opposite boring in, still would like Sio back in the starting front row. Izzy still obviously not right, maybe should be...

    Galaxy recipe suggestions?

stone and wood inspired ale 53% Pils 25% wheat 20% raw wheat 2% acid i step mash but for ease with biab probably @ 64. OG @1044 ( if using raw wheat knock about 5 % off your effeciency ) Galaxy at 15 ( 1g/L ) and flameout to @ 18ibu 1272 yeast dry hop 1 to 1.5g/L

    Rugby World Cup

I love the haka, good bit of theatre. I especially liked how the French formed that arrow and walked toward the AB at the world cup final, didn't think it was disrespectful at all, more of a challenge. Then the dicks at the IRB fined the French for doing so ( iirc). I haven't noticed it...

    Rugby World Cup

The ABs in the first half gave away alot of penalties, but the springboks didn't look like scoring at any stage, and were only in the game because of AB indiscipline. The ABs stepped up a bit with sonny bill and barrett on the field. Few reports about McCaw elbowing, but nothing in it. Good to...

    Beer Ice Cream

I've made "beer" ice cream by steeping some xtal in the hot milk cream mix for awhile, little bit of DME and then bunging in some galaxy flowers for a short steep before chilling. Pretty tasty, and don't need any/much sugar because of the malt. Have had various types of ice cream machines over...

Rugby is a pretty simple game, usually if you score more tries than the other mob you win.

    Rugby World Cup

Don't agree ( naturally) 5 tries to 3, with 2 of the 3 to Scotland due to poor Aussie play ( intercept/chargedown). Scotland played very tenaciously, Australia threw their game plan out the window and Sio struggled in the scrums. Pocock was missed sorely, and without him we're stuffed. I hope...

What did you buy while pissed last night?

Needed a new wheelbarrow last year, the model I wanted had one on the ground that looked pretty roughed up, the others were too high up to get down by myself, no staff as usual, thought oh well it's going to end up like this pretty quick. Picked up a few other bits, went to the checkout with...
