    Lucky Boy!

Generally, the older jocks are so much more comfortable. I hide my good ones from the wife or she throws them out. Really doesn't matter if a little bit of sack is protruding through a small hole or two, though I do wear Ruggers when wearing the comfy ones and not the usual footy shorts or the...

    Kegging after fermentation

If you're doing ales at normal ale temps, there's no need to raise the temp for a diacetyl rest ( won't hurt, just not needed), just leave it for a couple more days as suggested.

    A break for craft brewers?

He did say the magic words though, "They ( craft breweries) will contribute some $35 billion to the overseas market by 2020". That would have made their ears prick.

Continuing Rant Thread - Get it Off Ya Chest here

I reckon the Queen of England may have something to say about her land being taken off her. The Yanks would have a problem with it too.

If the Aussie dollar plummets, the Chinese land owners ( those in agriculture ect ) make a killing by exporting their products back to China.

    Village Idiots

Drawing a very long bow there mate. Anyway, in Abrahamic religions, God is the creator of everything. But there would be no "where" or "when" ,without a universe to perform the act of creation in. If there were a preexisting universe, then the notion of God being eternal and the ultimate creator...

    Village Idiots

Jehovah Witnesses. Only room for 144 000 thousand of the annoying pricks in heaven apparently. With 8 million of them worldwide the odds aren't in their favour. May as well be snorting coke off hookers arses.

Upping a weak drop late in the game

What you propose will work. In a separate pot make up a small extract/water solution to around 1.040, bring to the boil and add hops of your choice, boil for 10 minutes to extract desired bitterness, take off heat and chill immediately in an ice bath in the sink, add to fermentor, leaving most...

my kegs have less hop flavour

Yep, if you can't do a closed transfer, what you propose is much better than no purge at all, although you won't need as much pressure to purge as you would if force carbing. Just enough to displace the air. Be gentle when removing the keg lid and still try to avoid splashing.

    BrewMate still out there

I don't think the WF can be changed, unlike most other things. Totally agree. BIAB myself, Brewmate is accurate and Beersmith vastly over-complicates something so simple.

All Grain Efficiency Very Low - What am I doing wrong

My efficiency took a dive a few of months ago. I looked into every possible reason I could think of. Turns out I was over thinking it. My thermometer was out by 8c. If you haven't already, you may want to calibrate your thermometer. It's often the simplest things.

Well....After looking into it more. It is if you live in regional areas at least. The BOM has fully automated many of our weather stations and these stations output 100% computer generated forecasts. They can't take the place of experienced local forecasters ....yet. During and leading up to...
